JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-Time Bookkeeper

Reports To: Executive Director
Employment Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week
Compensation: $25.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

Connections of Cumberland County, Inc. (CCC) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage the organization's day-to-day financial records and support effective fiscal management. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, coordinating payroll, supporting organizational and grant budgeting, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audit preparation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong financial and organizational skills, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly. Experience with nonprofit accounting, grant-funded programs, and restricted funds is strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Bookkeeping & Accounting

Maintain accurate and timely financial records and general ledger activity.
Record and appropriately classify revenues, expenses, deposits, payments, and other financial transactions.
Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, and other financial accounts on a regular basis.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoices, payments, deposits, reimbursements, and vendor records.
Process and/or coordinate payroll and maintain required payroll documentation.
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with year-end financial activities, including vendor reporting and Forms 1099, as applicable.

- Budgeting & Financial Reporting

Assist the Executive Director and leadership with development and monitoring of the annual organizational budget.
Support development and monitoring of program and grant budgets.
Prepare monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
Monitor cash flow, revenue, expenses, and budget variances and promptly communicate significant concerns to the Executive Director.
Provide financial analysis to support operational planning, budgeting, and organizational decision-making.

- Grant & Fund Management

Track grant revenues and expenditures by funding source, including restricted and unrestricted funds.
Ensure grant-related expenses are appropriately documented, coded, and allocated.
Assist with financial grant reports, reimbursement requests, budget modifications, monitoring activities, and grant closeouts.
Work with leadership and program staff to ensure expenditures align with approved grant budgets and funding requirements.

- Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls

Prepare financial records, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for the annual audit or financial review.
Work with the Executive Director, auditors, accountants, payroll providers, and other financial professionals as needed.
Assist with year-end closing and preparation of financial information for the organization's Form 990 and other required filings.
Follow established financial policies, internal controls, authorization procedures, and record-retention requirements.
Maintain strict confidentiality and promptly report financial discrepancies, irregularities, or internal-control concerns to the Executive Director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum of two years of bookkeeping, accounting, or financial-management experience.
Proficiency with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet established deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Demonstrated integrity, dependability, professionalism, and sound judgment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Bookkeeper may participate in staff or financial planning meetings, provide financial information and support to staff and leadership, communicate with vendors, funders, auditors, and other partners, and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
