Position Summary
Unity Wellness, LLC is seeking a dependable, professional, and client-focused Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) to join our team in a full-time salaried position.
The Massage Therapist will provide high-quality therapeutic massage services to Unity Wellness clients while maintaining professional documentation, dependable attendance, and consistent management of an assigned caseload.
This position is designed for a therapist who values the stability of salaried employment while remaining committed to maintaining a productive full-time schedule and providing excellent client care.
Compensation
- Annual salary of $52,000
- W-2 employee position
- Paid on Unity Wellness's regular payroll schedule
- Salary is not calculated on a per-session or commission basis
- Continued salaried employment is contingent upon meeting the performance, attendance, documentation, and caseload expectations of the position
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Licensed Massage Therapist will:
- Provide professional therapeutic massage services within the therapist's North Carolina licensure and scope of practice
- Maintain a consistent full-time client caseload as established by Unity Wellness
- Provide services to clients receiving care through VA Community Care and other Unity Wellness programs, as assigned
- Review client needs and provide appropriate massage services based on authorized treatment and clinical considerations
- Maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with all clients
- Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled appointments
- Follow established scheduling procedures and promptly communicate schedule changes or concerns to office staff
- Work collaboratively with reception, referral, administrative, and management staff
- Assist with maintaining continuity of care by ensuring clients are appropriately scheduled for their authorized services
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized, and professional treatment room
- Follow all infection-control, sanitation, safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements
- Follow Unity Wellness policies, procedures, and workplace expectations
Documentation Requirements
Accurate and timely documentation is an essential function of this position.
The therapist is responsible for:
- Completing required documentation for every client encounter
- Completing notes accurately and within Unity Wellness's required timeframe
- Ensuring documentation supports the services provided
- Correcting documentation when requested due to missing or incomplete information
- Maintaining documentation necessary for Unity Wellness to submit claims and receive reimbursement
Repeated late, missing, or incomplete documentation may result in corrective action.
Caseload & Productivity Expectations
This is a full-time clinical position, and the $52,000 annual salary is based on the therapist maintaining the caseload and productivity expectations established for the position.
The therapist is expected to:
- Maintain approximately 35 completed client sessions per week, subject to client availability, authorized services, cancellations, and other factors outside the therapist's control
- Maintain sufficient scheduling availability to support the expected caseload
- Work cooperatively with office staff to fill openings created by cancellations
- Notify management when cancellations, authorization issues, or other circumstances are preventing the therapist from maintaining the expected caseload
- Avoid unnecessarily restricting availability in a manner that prevents the therapist from maintaining full-time productivity
Performance will be evaluated based on the therapist's overall availability, completed sessions, attendance, documentation, client care, and compliance with company procedures—not solely on circumstances outside the therapist's control, such as client cancellations or authorization delays.
Attendance & Scheduling
Reliable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
The therapist is expected to:
- Maintain the work schedule established for the position
- Be available during assigned working hours
- Provide appropriate notice for absences or requested schedule changes
- Avoid excessive cancellations, call-outs, tardiness, or schedule changes that interfere with client care
- Remain available for administrative responsibilities, documentation, scheduling coordination, or other appropriate job-related duties during scheduled work hours when a client cancels or does not attend
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Hold an active and unrestricted North Carolina Massage and Bodywork Therapist license
- Maintain all continuing education and renewal requirements necessary for licensure
- Maintain professional liability insurance if required by Unity Wellness
- Demonstrate strong professionalism, reliability, communication, and time-management skills
- Be comfortable working with a diverse client population
- Be able to complete documentation accurately and consistently
- Be able to maintain the physical demands associated with a full-time massage therapy caseload
Experience working with Veterans, VA Community Care, medical massage, therapeutic massage, or clients with chronic pain is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to perform massage therapy services throughout the workday, including prolonged standing, repetitive hand and upper-body movements, bending, reaching, positioning clients as appropriate, and performing other physical activities ordinarily associated with massage therapy.
