Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Department: Real Estate & Facilities
Reports To (Title): Director of Facilities Operations
Position Type: FLSA - Non-Exempt
Supervising Staff: NO
General Purpose:
The Maintenance Technician is part of our Mobile Facilities Operations responsible for 8 to 10 facilities. Each facility is visited once or twice a month to perform routine and preventative maintenance activities as well as to conduct minor repairs. The skill set of the Maintenance Technician should cover all building systems for commercial properties. The successful candidate enjoys performing hands-on maintenance, works fast, and takes pride in a job well done. We are a cooperative team that manages working well independently, while coordinating closely for quality and consistency of work.
Essential Functions:
- Perform routine maintenance and systems checks for assigned facilities in the areas of HVAC; wall and floor repairs; ceiling tile and light replacements; drains, faucets and fixtures; gates and overhead doors; locks; minor roof and parking lot repairs; furniture assembly and wall mounts; low voltage wiring, electric fixtures and outlets; painting and touch up
- Identify and repair minor issues on the spot whenever
possible
- Document and escalate major issues that need more
time, resources or should be performed by a certified tradesman
- Document progress and completion of work orders in
web-based applications and written reports
- Check safety issues and perform facilities inspections each month
- Track and closeout on assigned work orders
- Assist Facility Manager to perform and document regular facility condition inspections and facility safety inspections
- Assist other technicians on projects that may need more than one technician to perform them safely
- Fill in for other technicians during time-off
- Respond to after hour emergency calls and rotate schedule with other technicians
Adhere to all Goodwill and personnel policies and procedures; follow good safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Manager, HR, and/or Job Coach if applicable.
Additional duties as assigned.

- This role works across many departments and levels of the organization

The following benchmarks must be meet as follows:
- Satisfactory interaction with GWNYNJ employees and management, demonstrating a customer
service mindset and attention to compliance
- Timely initiated and closed work orders
- Attention to detail and able to document work in shared folders and software
- Maintains clean appearance
- Neat and organize in performing maintenance activities
Benchmarks are subject to change to meet business needs with management approval.
Qualifications: Describe the minimum educational and experience requirements/preferences.
The following qualifications are required:
- Associate degree or designation from a related technical school preferred
- 4 to 9 years of facilities maintenance or construction experience
- Technical knowledge of building systems and mechanicals
- A clean driving record and valid driver license are required
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Skills Required:
- Facilities maintenance experience in office, retail and/or warehouse locations
- Experience interacting with typical facility maintenance vendors
- Basic computer literacy with past experience working with mobile work order management devices preferred
- Proven ability to successfully interact with stakeholders across the Goodwill organization
- Clean and professional appearance; work uniform required and provided
