Full Job Description

Position Summary: Performs general accounting duties in an accurate and compliant manner by performing the following duties personally. Responsible for e nsuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

Critical Tasks:

Performs all duties in a very highly accurate manner and at the highest ethical level.
Complies fully with all generally accepted accounting principles.
Enters and reconciles revenue and expenses to appropriate accounts in highly accurate form.
Accurately allocates and records journal entries and reconciles balance sheet accounts.
Deposits and codes cash receipts.

Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
Reviews and allocates expenses for enterprise credit cards, fuel purchase cards, travel cards and cellular service accounts. Ensures compliance with enterprise policies by all employees and executives having such spending authority.
Allocates employee benefits, maintenance, insurance, prepaid, and other expenses properly to department cost centers.
Records indirect grant costs according to approved percentages as documented within Notices of Awards and records grant revenue and receivable entries based on current month's allowed expenditures.
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and enterprise procedures and notifies management of any issues or failings discovered.
Assists with grant filing activities and processes.
Prepares and submits invoices to the Gila River Indian Community for Tobacco Tax funding of reimbursable grant expenses.
Codes all incoming receipts to correct cost centers.
Deposits revenue in the form of cash and checks and properly reconciles all cash and electronic funds transfers.
Prepares and enters approved budget revisions as necessary.
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Distributes petty cash to appropriate locations and ensures fully accurate record keeping, use and accounting of all petty ash funds.
Meets all reporting deadlines while maintaining complete accounting data accuracy.
Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance at a minimum.
CPA desirable.
2 to 5 years general accounting experience, preferably in a health care environment.
Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
Interest in medical subjects, patient services/care, and customer service.
Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.
