Full Job Description

You can make a positive impact!

Independent, auto dealership seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for a locally and family-owned store. Opportunity for growth and significant operational impact in an independent dealership.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets.
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.
Manage dealership-specific accounting: vehicle inventory accounting, floorplan reconciliations, dealer reserves, and sales tax reporting.
Reconcile and manage lender/floorplan accounts/
Lead month-end close, variance analysis, budgeting, and cash-flow forecasting.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, state/federal tax rules, and dealership regulatory requirements (title, registration, DMS reconciliation).
Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and work with CPAs and financial institutions.
Implement and maintain internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures.
Supervise and accounting staff; delegate tasks and review work for accuracy.
Support payroll processing, benefits administration, and commission calculations.

Qualifications:

5+ years accounting experience; 2+ years in an automotive controller role preferred.
Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented, high integrity, ability to work independently and with ownership/management.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
