Position: Safety Specialist
Who you are:
This role is essential for developing,implementing, and managing comprehensive accident prevention and safetyprograms, with a particular focus on construction environments and a preferencefor electrical safety experience. The Safety Specialist will be responsible forconducting work area assessments, performing and documenting jobsiteinspections, delivering safety training, and ensuring rigorous compliance withfederal and state regulations. Key duties also include evaluating programeffectiveness through daily field walks, supporting incident investigations andjob hazard analyses, and providing crucial coaching and feedback to promotesafe behaviors among employees. This position requires 1-3 years ofconstruction safety experience and OSHA 30 certification.
Whatyou will do:
- Develops and manages theadministration of the project/company accident prevention efforts.
- Develop and facilitate appropriatetraining programs.
- Conduct work area assessments.
- Develop, organize, and implementsafety related programs that meet company safety standards.
- Perform and document jobsiteinspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
- Coordinate and conduct safetymeetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst employees.
- Participate in regulatory agencyinspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and stateregulations.
- Ensure safety completion by reviewingthe job hazard analysis for major phases of our work.
- Support Crew Foreman/General Foremenin development of Job Hazard Analyses.
- Evaluate effectiveness of safetyprograms through daily field walks. Regulatory compliance and audit oversight.
- Meet regularly with field personneland support in the development of project specific corrective action plans toaddress safety issues and concerns.
- Provide regular feedback to projectleadership in a constructive manner on needed areas for safety improvement andrecognition.
- Assist with delivery of jobsitespecific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, asapplicable.
- Support Project Leadership incompletion of incident investigations.
- Facilitate all injury/illness cases.
What you will need:
- HSdiploma with 2 to 3 years of related experience.
- 1- 3 years in construction safety experience(electrical safety experience preferred).
- OSHA30 Construction required
- STS-Cor CHST required within 90 days of employment
- Experiencewith union workforce desired
- Abilityto work independently, strong communication skills with ability to influencebehaviors
- Proficientin using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
