Full Job Description

Job Summary

R.J. Wherry & Associates is seeking a skilled Millwork Draftsman / Millwork Engineer to join our growing team in Madison, Tennessee. We specialize in the manufacturing and installation of custom commercial casework, millwork, solid surface products, and architectural specialties for projects across the United States.

This position is responsible for translating architectural drawings into accurate shop drawings, coordinating projects from design through fabrication, and assisting with the planning and execution of field installations. This position will be come a dual role spanning between the drafting and project manager's responsibilities. As you manage the project, you will also draw, submit, engineer and release engineered drawings for fabrication.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical drafting skills combined with the ability to manage project details, schedules, and installation crews to ensure successful project delivery.

Duties

Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for millwork, cabinetry, and woodwork projects using software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp and Cabinet Vision.
Create accurate schematics, system designs, and construction documents that meet project specifications and industry standards.
Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and fabricators to interpret design concepts into precise technical drawings.
Incorporate client feedback and project revisions efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and clarity.
Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication instructions, and assembly diagrams for manufacturing teams.

Skills

Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of schematics, drafting standards, and construction documentation processes.
Ability to interpret architectural plans and technical specifications accurately.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Project Coordination

Manage assigned projects from submittal through fabrication and installation
Maintain project schedules and deadlines
Coordinate with shop personnel to ensure drawings are accurate and buildable
Assist with material takeoffs and fabrication planning

Field & Installation Support

Communicate with installation crews and supervisors to ensure successful field execution
Review site conditions and resolve installation challenges
Coordinate deliveries, sequencing, and installation timelines with contractors

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
