Full Job Description

Primary Duties:

Professionally interact with various outside entities ensure referred patients are paired with the appropriate provider and seen in a timely manner.
Pay careful attention to detail, follow up on tasks with minimal supervision, and adhere to specific timelines, to ensure patients are eligible and authorized to receive care during their scheduled appointments.
Immediately respond to incoming referrals and initiate the process, including necessary tracking and documentation and communication with referring provider’s office.
Maintain a current list of outside referring providers, contact information including office personnel.
Documents all communications and details during the referral process.
Maintains documentation and status of the referral throughout the process.
Requests necessary forms and records from referring provider, insurance, etc.
Efficiently use different avenues to determine insurance eligibility for any services provided.
Obtains and modifies (when needed) necessary authorizations.
Conducts appointment scheduling in EPM; notifying referring provider of the scheduled appointment.
Send New Patient Materials when required.
Maintains office equipment and supplies. This includes reporting of IT or facility-related issues.
Other job duties as assigned.

Other criteria:

Able to utilize our phone system and communicate in quality English (and Spanish) language.
Able to utilize our computer system to process insurance eligibility and authorizations.
Able to understand medical terminology related to job duties.
Quality understanding of services offered by Eye Medical Center to enable accurate authorization for treatments/services.
Understanding of health insurances.
Able to work individually and as a team to achieve goals.
