Position Summary
The Operations Manager serves as the central operational and administrative leader for South Point Power (SPP) and is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day execution of the company's high-voltage electrical construction, utility, industrial, and related operations.
This position combines operational leadership, project coordination, financial administration, billing, workforce planning, and office management into a single leadership role. The Operations Manager ensures that awarded work is properly planned, staffed, documented, executed, billed, and closed out while maintaining clear communication between field personnel, project leadership, customers, vendors, Finance, and enterprise leadership.
This is not a general administrative or office management position. Candidates must possess meaningful professional experience in high-voltage electrical construction or utility electrical operations and be capable of understanding and coordinating the technical, operational, financial, and administrative requirements associated with that work.
The successful candidate must be an exceptional communicator and highly organized leader with strong follow-through, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain visibility across multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. This individual must also have experience with construction billing, job costing, accounts receivable, and QuickBooks Online (QBO) or comparable construction accounting software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational & Project Management:
- Manage the day-to-day operational activities of South Point Power.
- Serve as the primary coordination point between field operations, Project Managers, estimating, Finance, administration, and enterprise leadership.
- Maintain visibility of active and upcoming projects, schedules, manpower requirements, equipment needs, customer commitments, and operational risks.
- Coordinate projects from award through planning, mobilization, execution, billing, and closeout.
- Ensure projects are properly staffed, equipped, documented, scheduled, financially monitored, and executed safely.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, purchasing, subcontractors, and other project requirements.
- Monitor project schedules, job costs, change orders, and overall project performance.
- Identify operational problems early and drive issues to resolution.
- Conduct operational meetings, project reviews, and planning sessions as required.
- Maintain clear accountability and follow-through on assigned actions and commitments.
High-Voltage Electrical Operations:
- Apply practical knowledge of high-voltage electrical construction and utility operations to project planning and execution.
- Understand the terminology, workflows, equipment, manpower, safety requirements, and customer expectations associated with high-voltage electrical work.
- Coordinate effectively with Project Managers, Foremen, field crews, utility representatives, electrical contractors, customers, and vendors.
- Support projects involving high-voltage electrical infrastructure, including transmission and distribution, substations, overhead and underground systems, industrial power systems, testing and commissioning, and related scopes of work.
- Ensure operational decisions reflect applicable electrical construction requirements, field conditions, customer standards, and safety considerations.
Contracts, Estimates & Operational Controls:
- Maintain visibility of contracts, purchase orders, subcontracts, NDAs, proposals, estimates, ROMs, change orders, and other project documents.
- Maintain organized tracking of estimates, proposals, awarded work, active projects, and anticipated opportunities.
- Ensure significant manpower, equipment, purchasing, or other company commitments are supported by appropriate written customer authorization and company approval.
- Track pending contracts, purchase orders, notices to proceed, customer commitments, and anticipated start dates.
- Ensure project scope, requirements, and customer expectations are clearly communicated to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain complete and organized project files and operational records.
Financial Management & Billing:
- Manage the operational side of project financial administration in coordination with Finance.
- Maintain accurate project and customer information within QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other company systems.
- Prepare, review, submit, and track customer invoices and supporting billing documentation.
- Monitor accounts receivable, unbilled work, job costs, purchase orders, change orders, and project financial performance.
- Ensure completed work, materials, equipment, approved change orders, and other billable items are captured and invoiced promptly.
- Coordinate with field personnel, Project Managers, customers, and Finance to obtain required billing documentation.
- Review outstanding receivables and proactively address missing documentation, billing discrepancies, or other issues delaying payment.
- Monitor project profitability and identify financial risks before they materially impact margins or cash flow.
- Support revenue forecasting, WIP reporting, and project closeout.
Workforce & Administrative Management:
- Forecast manpower requirements based on awarded and anticipated work.
- Coordinate hiring requirements, onboarding, scheduling, and workforce administration with enterprise leadership and Human Resources.
- Maintain visibility of employee certifications, training, licensing, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate time sheet collection and payroll support documentation.
- Manage the daily administrative operations of the SPP office.
- Maintain organized company records, project documentation, vendor files, permits, licenses, certificates of insurance, and compliance records.
- Coordinate meetings, correspondence, scheduling, and internal administrative requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding personnel, payroll, customer, and company information.
Communication & Customer Relations:
- Serve as a primary communication link between field personnel, Project Managers, customers, vendors, Finance, and enterprise leadership.
- Provide leadership with timely and accurate updates regarding projects, manpower, equipment, contracts, estimates, billing, customer issues, and operational risks.
- Ensure important information, decisions, and commitments are properly documented and communicated.
- Maintain organized action-item and operational tracking and ensure commitments are completed.
- Escalate significant issues promptly and minimize preventable operational surprises.
- Maintain strong customer and vendor relationships throughout project execution.
- Represent South Point Power professionally in written communications, meetings, telephone conversations, and customer interactions.
Fleet, Equipment, Safety & Compliance:
- Coordinate vehicle, equipment, tooling, and material requirements with field and project leadership.
- Maintain visibility of company vehicles, equipment, tools, and assigned assets.
- Ensure significant purchases are properly supported by project requirements and approved in accordance with company policy.
- Support fleet compliance, maintenance, fuel-card administration, GPS requirements, and equipment tracking.
- Ensure operational compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, customer standards, DOT requirements, ISNetworld, Avetta, licensing requirements, and applicable training and certification requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and compliance.
Systems & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and current information within QuickBooks Online, project tracking systems, estimating and proposal trackers, CRM, fleet systems, and other company platforms.
- Maintain accurate operational reporting for active projects, upcoming work, manpower, equipment, billing, and financial performance.
- Develop and maintain organized processes that provide leadership with reliable operational visibility.
- Continuously improve workflows, documentation, communication, and administrative efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in high-voltage electrical construction, utility electrical construction, transmission and distribution, substations, industrial power systems, or a closely related high-voltage electrical environment.
- Demonstrated practical knowledge of high-voltage electrical construction and field operations is required.
- Experience coordinating or managing high-voltage electrical projects, field crews, or electrical construction operations.
- Strong understanding of the electrical construction project lifecycle from estimating and award through planning, mobilization, execution, billing, and closeout.
- Demonstrated experience with construction billing, accounts receivable, job costing, purchase orders, change orders, and project financial reporting.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or comparable construction accounting software, with the ability to quickly achieve proficiency in QBO.
- Working knowledge of manpower planning, scheduling, procurement, equipment coordination, and project documentation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email, accounting software, and business management systems.

- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or related field preferred but not required.
- Significant experience in utility transmission and distribution, substations, industrial high-voltage construction, or utility infrastructure.
- Experience managing multiple high-voltage electrical projects or crews simultaneously.
- Experience supporting data center, industrial, utility, or mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
- Advanced QuickBooks Online experience, including billing, accounts receivable, job costing, and project financial reporting.
- Experience with electrical estimating or project management software.
- Experience with Salesforce, ISNetworld, and/or Avetta.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- PMP certification or comparable project management experience.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office environment for extended periods.
- Ability to visit active electrical construction and utility project sites.
- Ability to walk uneven terrain and climb stairs or ladders as required.
- Ability to occasionally lift materials or supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work periodically in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel as required to support company operations.
Work Environment:
This position operates in both office and construction environments and requires regular interaction with field personnel, Project Managers, customers, vendors, subcontractors, Finance personnel, and enterprise leadership.
The Operations Manager must be capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change quickly and multiple projects may require simultaneous attention.
