Full Job Description

Summary of Job Description:

Incumbent responds to medical emergency calls and assesses the patient’s condition to determine a course of treatment; administers ALS (Advanced Life Support) on patient when necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

Ability to coordinate more than one patient at a time
Knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations from the Office of Emergency Medical Services
High School Diploma or equivalent
Paramedic I: One (1) year practicing paramedic experience and/or medical control through a local hospital
Paramedic II: Four (4) to eight (8) years paramedic experience
Paramedic III: Eight (8) or more years paramedic experience
Connecticut Licenses and Certifications
- Paramedic
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support)
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license from state of residency
Must acquire and maintain sponsor hospital medical control credentials
Facial hair must not interfere with a respirator mask
Must pass a medical examination annually, including a respiratory test
Must perform strenuous or peak physical efforts during emergency, training or station maintenance activity for a prolonged period of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat and cold
