Own the end-to-end machining workflow: program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machines; translate 3D models and prints into efficient toolpaths; and protect quality, safety, and documentation at every step.
- Training & Enablement: Produce clear setup sheets and instructions; mentor operators on new processes; invest in your learning through courses and technical publications.
- Programming Excellence: Review CAD models/blueprints; calculate tooling and materials; design geometric layouts and nests; determine operation sequences and cutting tools; set feeds/speeds; eliminate inefficiencies and simplify complex setups.
- Quality & Validation: Run simulations/tests; verify first-article and sample workpieces; ensure outputs meet specifications; observe machining operations (drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, thread chasing); troubleshoot, adjust, reprogram, and maintain tools in line with QA procedures.
- Operations: Produce parts to schedule or lead direction; safely operate mills, lathes, and auxiliary tooling—attachments, collets, bushings, stops, stock pushers, indicating vises.
- Safety: Follow all safety procedures and regulations; correctly establish zero/reference points using sound math and measurement practices.
- Communication & Records: Keep accurate production/quality logs; document actions, irregularities, and needs across shifts; maintain remnant inventory; coordinate with operators who will run your programs; take ownership for new requests and value creation.
- 5+ years in a machine shop; strong basic math, reading, writing.
- Mechanical ASSY understanding; GD&T proficiency; ability to follow verbal/written instructions.
- Strength in conceptual skills, process improvement, communication, technical skills, controls/instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control, judgment, attention to detail.
- Preferred: Autodesk Fusion nesting abilities; CAD/CAM nesting software exposure; safe work habits; dependable attendance; team-focused mindset.
- Standing for extended periods; frequent carrying, grasping, reaching, pulling, and stooping for parts and supplies.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Normal work hours (5 - 8 hour days –Mon – Fri); overtime flexibility as needed.
