Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including home, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health and well-being, and promote independence while ensuring their safety and comfort. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while making a positive impact on the community.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in care plans
Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care protocols under supervision or as trained
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding if required
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are met
Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders
Follow established care plans diligently while communicating any concerns or observations to supervising healthcare professionals or social workers

Qualifications

Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred
Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is essential
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities enhances your ability to deliver personalized care
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or manual handling are advantageous
Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks confidently
Strong communication skills with a compassionate attitude towards clients of all ages and abilities
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
