This Is a Builder’s Role

This is not a comfortable, maintain-the-status-quo sales job.

Carefree Boat Club of Tennessee is seeking a driven, highly accountable Director of Sales & Growth to take ownership of membership growth across our Tri-Cities and Chattanooga markets. The opportunity is significant—but so is the challenge.

You will inherit an established brand, multiple marina locations, an existing lead base, a proven membership model, and an experienced leadership team. You will also inherit ambitious growth goals, a seasonal sales cycle, and a business that needs someone capable of creating structure, improving execution, and producing measurable results.

The right person will see tremendous upside here. As the business grows, this role has the potential to grow in responsibility, leadership, influence, and compensation. We are looking for someone who wants to help build the sales engine—not simply occupy a sales position.

What You’ll Own

You will be directly accountable for membership growth, lead conversion, and retention in the Tri-Cities and Chattanooga markets. This includes personally selling memberships while building the systems, team, and market presence needed to scale.

Your responsibilities in both markets will include:

Own membership sales goals and deliver consistent, measurable results.
Respond quickly and professionally to new leads by phone, text, and email.
Manage the complete sales pipeline and ensure every qualified prospect receives disciplined follow-up.
Conduct compelling tours at our marina locations.
Clearly communicate the financial and lifestyle value of boat club membership.
Follow and improve our established sales process, scripts, workflows, and reporting.
Maintain accurate, current CRM records and pipeline forecasts.
Re-engage older leads and create campaigns that generate new opportunities.
Develop referral partnerships with local businesses, real estate professionals, employers, marinas, and community organizations.
Plan and host prospect events, member events, open houses, and other sales-generating activities.
Represent the club at boat shows, trade shows, and community events.
Collaborate with leadership on annual sales, marketing, and retention plans.
Evaluate marketing performance based on lead quality, appointments, tours, conversion rates, and customer acquisition cost.
Recruit, train, and lead additional sales talent as growth supports it.
Help ensure that new and existing members receive an exceptional experience.

What Makes This Role Challenging

Our business is highly seasonal. During the spring and summer, prospects expect responsiveness—including evenings and weekends—and sales opportunities move quickly. The successful candidate must be willing to work with significant schedule flexibility during boating season.

You will also be expected to bring discipline and accountability to the sales process. Leads cannot sit untouched. Follow-up cannot depend on motivation. Activity, pipeline health, conversion rates, and results must be tracked and improved continuously.

This role requires someone who can operate strategically while still doing the daily work: making calls, sending follow-ups, conducting tours, asking for the sale, and closing business.

Qualifications

At least three years of successful sales experience
Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed revenue or unit-sales goals
Experience managing a complete sales pipeline
Strong closing, communication, and relationship-building skills
Experience with HubSpot or a comparable CRM
Strong organizational and follow-up discipline
Ability to interpret sales data and report on performance
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed during boating season
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel among Tri-Cities marina locations
Experience recruiting, training, or managing salespeople is strongly preferred
Experience with membership, hospitality, recreation, automotive, marine, real estate, or other high-consideration consumer sales is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

$65,000–$110,000+ annual earning potential

Schedule

This is a full-time position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with evenings and weekends required as needed—particularly during the spring and summer boating season. There is significant flexibility in the winter.
