Fun exciting opportunity, seeking a leader to the General Education & Interventions Teacher provides individualized academic instruction, intervention services, life skills education, and social-emotional learning (SEL) support to middle and high school students (Grades 6–12). This position works one-on-one and in small groups to help students achieve academic success while developing confidence, independence, self-regulation, and essential life skills. The teacher also leads group SEL lessons, collaborates with staff and families, and supports the whole-child approach to education.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities/Academic Instruction & Intervention
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction and academic support in the following subject areas:
- Reading
- English Language Arts (ELA)
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Deliver individualized interventions based on student learning needs.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles and academic levels.
- Conduct academic assessments and monitor student progress.
- Develop intervention plans and maintain student progress documentation.
- Reinforce classroom instruction and support students with accommodations and modifications.
- Assist students with executive functioning, study skills, organization, homework completion, and test preparation.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to improve academic achievement.
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and student support teams to ensure student success.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
- Provide individualized SEL coaching and mentoring.
- Plan and facilitate weekly group SEL lessons and activities.
- Teach emotional regulation and self-management strategies.
- Help students identify, understand, and appropriately express emotions.
- Teach coping skills for anxiety, frustration, stress, and conflict.
- Foster positive peer relationships and healthy communication.
- Teach empathy, respect, resilience, and responsible decision-making.
- Promote self-awareness, self-confidence, and leadership.
- Implement restorative practices and positive behavior supports.
- Serve as a trusted mentor and advocate for students.

QualificationsEducation
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in one or more of the following fields:
- Education
- Special Education
- Elementary Education

Professional Experience
Current or previous experience as a:
- Licensed Teacher
- Intervention Teacher
- General Education Teacher
- Special Education Teacher
- School Counselor
- Case Manager
- Mental Health Professional
- Behavior Specialist
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
- Qualified Professional (QP)
- Therapist or Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or Mental Health)
- Youth Development Professional
- Academic Coach or Tutor
- Social Worker
- Or another related educational or human services professional.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience providing one-on-one instruction, intervention services, mentoring, counseling support, or student coaching preferred.
- Knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and positive youth development.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working with students and families.
- Strong classroom management and positive behavior support skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Passion for helping students achieve academic, behavioral, social, and emotional success.
Preferred Certifications
- North Carolina Teaching License (preferred but not required)
- Therapy Experience

- Qualified Professional (QP)
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Employment Requirements
- Must successfully complete all required criminal background checks.
- Must meet all applicable state and school employment requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school day. Stand and Teach! Provide sessions, testing, interventions between classes.
