Overview
IET Systems is seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to support commercial, industrial, government, military, and infrastructure projects. Our team values safety, quality workmanship, dependable attendance, and professional communication on every jobsite.
The Concrete Finisher prepares, places, levels, finishes, repairs, and protects concrete surfaces including slabs, foundations, footings, sidewalks, pads, curbs, retaining walls, head walls, slope paving, pathways, and related concrete structures. This role performs hands-on field work involving concrete placement, rebar and reinforcement installation, form preparation, screeding, troweling, edging, curing, repair, and jobsite cleanup.
Responsibilities
- Prepare work areas, forms, subgrades, reinforcing materials, tools, and equipment before concrete placement.
- Assist with mixing, transporting, pouring, spreading, and placing concrete according to project drawings, specifications, grades, and schedules.
- Level and screed freshly placed concrete to achieve required elevations, slopes, grades, and surface conditions.
- Use floats, trowels, edgers, groovers, brooms, straight edges, saws, and other finishing tools to produce specified finishes.
- Install, position, tie, and secure rebar, wire mesh, dowels, anchors, and other reinforcement components.
- Support construction, alignment, bracing, and removal of forms for concrete placements.
- Read and interpret measurements, blueprints, site plans, schematics, and project instructions related to concrete work.
- Operate hand tools and power tools such as trowels, screeds, concrete saws, vibrators, mixers, pumps, jackhammers, and related equipment.
- Inspect finished surfaces and correct low spots, rough areas, cracks, uneven areas, or other deficiencies when possible.
- Apply curing methods, sealers, patching materials, or protective treatments as directed.
- Support related construction tasks such as demolition, excavation, restoration, masonry, caulking, flooring, tile, stucco, and general site cleanup when assigned.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and remove excess concrete, debris, materials, and tools after each task.
- Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, PPE requirements, customer site rules, and safe concrete-handling practices.
- Communicate progress, material needs, quality concerns, and schedule issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Experience
- Prior construction site experience with concrete finishing, concrete placement, masonry, plastering, or a closely related trade.
- Working knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, screeding, finishing, curing, forming, reinforcement, and repair techniques.
- Hands-on experience using concrete finishing tools, construction hand tools, and power tools safely.
- Ability to read measurements, blueprints, schematics, and project instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in active jobsite conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, noise, wet concrete, vibration, uneven surfaces, and around heavy equipment.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to pass required background check, drug screen, customer-access requirements, and onboarding requirements.
- Experience installing rebar, wire mesh, forms, anchors, dowels, or other concrete reinforcement components.
- Experience with concrete restoration, caulking, stucco, flooring, tile, masonry, plastering, or related finishing trades.
- Familiarity with construction estimating, material takeoffs, grade checking, layout, or field measurements.
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
