Full Job Description

Pediatric Associates Inc. is looking for a friendly, dependable Medical Receptionist to join our pediatric care team.

Schedule: Monday–Friday
Experience: Medical office experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person

About Pediatric Associates Inc.

Pediatric Associates Inc. has been caring for children and families since 1960. We provide compassionate, high-quality pediatric care for patients from birth through age 21.

Our front office team plays an important role in that care. For many families, the receptionist is the first person they speak with and the first person they see when they arrive. We are looking for someone who understands how important it is to make patients and parents feel welcomed, respected, and cared for.

Responsibilities

As a Medical Receptionist, you will help keep our office running smoothly and provide a positive experience for our patients and families. Responsibilities include:

Greeting patients and families in a warm and professional manner
Checking patients in and out
Answering and routing incoming phone calls
Scheduling and managing patient appointments
Updating patient demographic and insurance information
Assisting with registration forms and patient paperwork
Communicating with parents, patients, providers, pharmacies, and other healthcare offices
Reviewing messages and directing them to the appropriate clinical team member
Maintaining accurate information in the electronic medical record
Helping maintain an organized and efficient front office
Protecting patient confidentiality and following HIPAA requirements
Working closely with physicians, clinical staff, and other front-office team members

Technology

Our practice uses athenahealth for our electronic medical record and practice management system and Phreesia for patient intake and registration.

Experience with athenahealth or Phreesia is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Preferred Qualifications

You do not need to know everything on your first day. However, previous exposure to a medical office or healthcare environment is helpful, particularly familiarity with:

Medical terminology
Electronic medical records (EMR/EHR)
Medical office phone systems and telephone etiquette
Common medication names
Appointment scheduling
Insurance information and eligibility
HIPAA and patient confidentiality
Basic computer and data-entry skills

Prior pediatric experience is a plus but is not required.
