Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Active Aging Program Coordinator plans and coordinates programs and activities that help older adults stay active, connected, and engaged at the YMCA and in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required; related education or training preferred.
One to two years of related experience preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Organized, dependable, and able to work independently.
Ability to build positive relationships with older adults, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
Basic computer skills.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, coordinate, and evaluate active aging programs, activities, and special events.
Handle program registration, communication, records, reports, supplies, and other day-to-day program needs.
Build positive relationships with participants and create a welcoming sense of community and belonging.
Identify participant needs and recommend new programs or improvements to existing programs.
Monitor participation and program expenses and work toward established program goals.
Coordinate instructors and volunteers, including scheduling, communication, and program coverage.
Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
Perform other duties as assigned,

Attend required training including abuse risk management.
Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to move throughout YMCA and community program locations and perform light physical activity related to programs, activities, supplies, and equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
