We offer one of the largest selections in the area, featuring sports cards like baseball, football, and basketball, as well as popular trading card games like Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering. Our team serves collectors both in-store and online, providing a great shopping experience and a welcoming community for hobbyists of all levels.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our purchasing team. In this role, you will drive the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of products and services essential to our operations. Your expertise will ensure seamless supply chain management, optimal inventory control, and strong vendor relationships. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence purchasing strategies, optimize costs, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our supply chain processes. The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical, and possess a deep understanding of procurement systems and contract management.

Responsibilities

Purchase trading cards and related products from distributors, manufacturers, vendors, and our B2B network.
Research product availability, market demand, and current market pricing to identify strong purchasing opportunities.
Evaluate potential purchases based on cost, expected selling price, demand, product condition, and overall profitability.
Maintain and manage purchasing data, pricing information, and product records using Microsoft Excel and internal systems.
Set and update retail prices for products sold through our website and physical retail store.
Monitor market prices and competitor pricing to ensure products are priced competitively while maintaining appropriate margins.
Analyze sales, inventory, and purchasing data to help determine what products to buy, how much to buy, and when to reorder.
Coordinate with distributors, manufacturers, and B2B partners regarding product availability, pricing, orders, allocations, and fulfillment.
Manage purchase orders and ensure products are ordered accurately and received as expected.
Assist with inventory management by identifying overstock, low-stock, and high-demand products and making purchasing recommendations.
Work across multiple product categories, including baseball, football, basketball, soccer, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and other trading card games and collectibles.
Stay informed on new product releases, upcoming sets, market trends, major sports releases, and changes in demand that may impact purchasing decisions.
Use Excel regularly to organize, analyze, and manipulate large amounts of product, pricing, inventory, and purchasing data.
Collaborate with other members of the purchasing, e-commerce, retail, and operations teams to ensure accurate product information and pricing across sales channels.
Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, pricing strategies, inventory turns, and overall profitability.
Perform additional purchasing, pricing, and product-related duties as needed to support the company's goals.

Skills

Previous professional experience using Microsoft Excel on a regular basis. Candidates should be comfortable working with spreadsheets, organizing data, and performing basic data analysis.
Strong computer skills and the ability to work efficiently in a computer-based environment for the majority of the workday.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, reviewing, and managing product, pricing, purchasing, and inventory information.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple products, vendors, orders, and priorities simultaneously.
Ability to analyze pricing, sales, inventory, and purchasing information and make sound business decisions based on the data.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with vendors, distributors, manufacturers, and internal team members.
Ability to learn and navigate new software, systems, and online tools quickly.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to investigate discrepancies or issues and find solutions.
Comfortable working with numbers, pricing, margins, and large amounts of product information.
