Front Desk Receptionist / Medical Biller: Join a Growing Physical Therapy Practice That Values Excellence

Individual Movement Improvement (IMI) is a growing outpatient physical therapy practice dedicated to providing exceptional one-on-one patient care. We are looking for a friendly, organized, and motivated Front Desk Receptionist / Medical Biller who enjoys helping people and wants to become an integral part of a small, high-performing healthcare team.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative without being asked, enjoys solving problems, and wants to grow professionally as our clinic continues to expand. While medical billing experience is important, the front desk experience is the heart of this role. You will often be the first and last person our patients interact with, making professionalism, positivity, and excellent customer service essential.

We are not looking for someone who simply completes assigned tasks—we are looking for someone who notices what needs to be done, takes ownership, and contributes to building an outstanding patient experience every day.

Front Desk Responsibilities

Welcome patients with professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm.
Provide exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming environment.
Answer incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
Collect patient demographics and maintain accurate patient information.
Assist patients with registration paperwork and answer general questions.
Maintain organized patient records within the EMR system.
Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies.
Ensure the reception area remains organized and presentable throughout the day.

Medical Billing Responsibilities

Submit accurate insurance claims using CPT and ICD-10 coding.
Review claims for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
Follow up on unpaid, delayed, or denied claims.
Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status.
Manage accounts receivable and assist patients with billing questions.
Collect outstanding balances and document payment activity.
Maintain accurate billing documentation while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Stay current on insurance policies, billing regulations, and coding updates.

Technology & Software

We embrace technology to improve efficiency and provide exceptional patient care. Our ideal candidate enjoys learning new systems and is comfortable adapting to evolving technology.

Experience with the following is preferred:

Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems (HelloNote experience is a plus)
Insurance billing portals
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
General computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new software
Interest in using modern AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or similar technologies) to improve administrative efficiency, organization, and workflow while maintaining patient privacy and clinic policies

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent experience
Previous experience in a medical office or outpatient healthcare setting preferred
Strong understanding of medical terminology
Experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding
Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, claim submission, and accounts receivable
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy
