Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic team as an Electric Billing Clerk, where you will play a vital role in managing and processing electrical billing operations with precision and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your accounting expertise, technical skills, and customer service abilities to ensure accurate billing, timely account reconciliation, and seamless communication with customers. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about maintaining high standards of financial accuracy, and are willing to learn other aspects of the office, such as, water and sewer billing and taking payments from customers and posting them to the correct accounts, this is the perfect role for you to contribute to our organization’s success.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and process electric bills using a billing software.
Manage accounts receivable and collections accounts to ensure timely payments and resolve discrepancies through negotiation and customer communication.
Reconcile accounts through detailed analysis using Excel data analysis techniques, spreadsheets, formulas, and account reconciliation procedures.
Maintain accurate data entry for billing records, customer information, and financial transactions while adhering to PUC compliance standards.
Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve billing issues promptly via phone etiquette and professional customer communication.
Assist with month-end closing activities including account analysis, financial reporting, and audit preparation related to electric billing operations.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business or another related field.
The ability to learn new billing software.
Demonstrated ability to perform Excel data analysis using formulas, pivot tables, and advanced functions; proficiency in Excel spreadsheets is essential.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; strong phone etiquette is essential.
Knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, accounts payable/receivable management.
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially while maintaining compliance with PUC (Public Utilities Commission)
