Overview

Staff Accountant

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our public accounting firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting graduate or early-career accountant who wants to develop broad experience in tax preparation, accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, and client service.

The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree, some tax and/or public accounting experience, and a desire to grow professionally in a small-firm environment where you will work directly with clients and gain experience in a variety of accounting and tax areas.

Responsibilities

Prepare individual and business income tax returns.
Assist with tax planning and other tax-related projects.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping and accounting for business clients.
Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations and make appropriate adjusting entries.
Assist with preparation of financial statements and other client financial reports.
Work with QuickBooks and other accounting and tax software.
Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, answer questions, and assist with accounting and tax matters.
Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential client records.
Develop a working knowledge of applicable tax laws and accounting standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field.
Tax preparation experience preferred.
Public accounting experience preferred, but we are willing to consider an entry-level candidate with a strong accounting background.
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred.
Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new tax and accounting software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally and comfortably with clients.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines, particularly during tax season.
Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to learn.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
