Full Job Description

Job Overview:

ICU: The unit has a total of 26 patient beds, spread across 2 floors, with 13 beds each. We offer self-scheduling with flexible shift options, including 6 weeks of night shifts followed by 6 weeks of day shifts. Our growing interdisciplinary team consists of 7 Intensivists who collaborate closely, with a policy of mandatory consultation for every patient in Critical Care. We have 2 Cardiothoracic Surgeons and 4 Neurosurgeons with privileges in the unit. Our facility is one of the busiest heart centers in the Pacific Northwest, featuring a Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and Interventional Radiology Lab that utilize advanced industry technology, including TAVR procedures.

We maintain a staffing ratio of 1:1 for post-TPA, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and immediate post-open heart recovery, performing over 350 open heart surgeries annually. ECMO program utilizing the Centrimag cardiac assist device, which includes comprehensive training, education, and continuous support from our dedicated ECMO Program Coordinator. Our team is highly engaged, with many opportunities for involvement and avenues for individual voices to be heard.

NRT Float IIII: This position is responsible for caring for a wide range of patient populations as a member of the Nursing Resource Team (NRT), maintaining a high level of adaptability and understanding in each unit. The NRT is a float resource department where nurses work in a variety of care areas hospital-wide. This department requires nurses to be efficient with time management and flexible in working with a variety of teams throughout the various units it supports. Typical float areas for a tier 4 float RN include, but are not limited to, medical-surgical, behavioral health, addiction recovery units, progressive care, the emergency department, and critical care units

Promotes optimal health, well-being and safety through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, and the Idaho Nurse Practice Act. Provides relationship based care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate, coordinated and culturally competent care based on respect for patient’s preferences, values, and needs. Engages fully within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Integrates best current evidence into clinical practice and uses data to monitor and improve the outcomes of care processes. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for an assigned patient population
Assists physician during examinations and procedures
Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse
Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patient and family to understand the condition, medications, and self-care skills
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of a national accredited Nursing program required
RN with less than 3 years’ patient-facing nursing experience at time of hire are required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate (or higher) degree program in nursing within 1 year of employment, with completion within 3 years of hire
RN with at least 3 years’ patient-facing nursing experience at time of hire, ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred
CCRN, CNOR, or a minimum of 1 year experience in Critical Care required, as applicable
State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the “multistate privilege to practice” compact with Idaho prior to start date
BLS required
ACLS required
