Full Job Description

We are an established and expanding company with operations across multiple states, including a diverse portfolio of real estate holdings and hospitality businesses. As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations while also providing leadership and oversight for our corporate office team.

This is a key leadership position for someone who enjoys both the financial side of the business and the day-to-day responsibility of keeping an organization running efficiently. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, comfortable managing multiple companies and priorities, and capable of working directly with ownership and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee accounting and financial reporting for multiple companies and entities across several states
Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash management
Lead monthly and year-end closing processes and ensure timely, accurate financial statements
Prepare and review income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow reports, and other management reporting
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Maintain appropriate internal controls and accounting procedures
Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations among multiple entities
Coordinate with outside CPAs on tax preparation, year-end reporting, and other accounting matters
Assist ownership with special projects
Support accounting related to property acquisitions, dispositions, financing, capital improvements, and restaurant operations as applicable

Office & Team Leadership

Manage, supervise, and support other corporate office employees
Establish priorities, accountability, and efficient workflows within the office
Help develop and improve administrative and accounting procedures as the company grows
Coordinate across departments, locations, outside professionals, vendors, and management
Ensure deadlines and important administrative responsibilities are consistently met
Serve as a trusted point of contact between the leadership and the office team
Help create a professional, organized, positive, and accountable office environment

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Significant accounting experience, including experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior accounting role
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with multi-entity accounting strongly preferred
Real estate, property management, retail, hospitality, or other multi-location business experience is highly desirable
Experience supervising accounting and/or administrative employees
Strong proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting systems - Quickbooks experience is a plus
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive financial information with discretion
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple businesses, deadlines, and projects simultaneously

You should also be willing to dig into the details when necessary while maintaining a clear understanding of the bigger financial picture.
