Full Job Description

Private dermatology practice in Laguna Hills is looking for a friendly, dependable, motivated Medical Assistant to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in a future career in healthcare, including pre-med, pre-PA, pre-nursing, medical assisting, or another clinical healthcare field. You will gain real hands-on experience in a medical office and work directly with the physician throughout the day.

No prior dermatology or surgical experience is required. Formal medical assistant training is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person. The most important qualities are reliability, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, professionalism with patients, comfort using computers, and a genuine interest in patient care.

Our practice focuses on medical and surgical dermatology. We do not perform cosmetic procedures.

This is a hands-on clinical role. You will help care for patients with acne, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, cysts, atypical moles, and other common dermatologic conditions. You will also help prepare for and assist with dermatologic procedures, including skin biopsies, Mohs micrographic surgery, surgical excisions, cyst removals, and removal of skin cancers, atypical moles, and other skin lesions.

This position includes both front-office and back-office responsibilities. You will help with patient flow, documentation, clinical preparation, dermatologic procedures, and office tasks. This is a good fit for someone who wants meaningful clinical exposure and is willing to learn the full workflow of a dermatology practice.

Laguna Hills, CA

Near Saddleback Hospital and Laguna Hills Mall

Schedule:

Full-time strongly preferred

Monday through Friday

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Applicants must be able to work full-day shifts. We are not able to offer partial shifts.

We are not looking for a summer-only position.

Part-time may be considered for the right applicant, but availability on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday is required.

Responsibilities:

Front office responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, verifying insurance eligibility, entering patient information into eClinicalWorks, and helping maintain smooth office flow.

Back office responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, preparing rooms and procedure trays, assisting during dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies, Mohs micrographic surgery, surgical excisions, cyst removals, and removal of skin cancers, atypical moles, and other skin lesions. You will also scribe during patient visits, help with medical documentation, provide patient education, review wound care instructions, label specimens, and work directly with the physician and clinical team throughout the day.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is friendly, caring with patients, dependable, punctual, professional, comfortable using computers, organized, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in medicine, dermatology, surgery, or healthcare.

Previous medical office experience is helpful but not required.

Dermatology experience is helpful but not required.

Surgical experience is not required.

Experience with eClinicalWorks is helpful but not required.

Formal medical assistant training is helpful but not required.

Reliable transportation and a reasonable commute to Laguna Hills are important.
