Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision components to drawing specifications. The role combines hands-on machining with CAM programming and process optimization to deliver high-quality parts on schedule. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with lathe and mill operations, CNC programming, and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, edit and optimize CNC programs (G-code) for lathes and mills using CAM software and manual programming as required.

Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills, including selecting tooling, fixturing and workholding, and performing first-article setups.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and GD&T to ensure parts meet specifications.

Perform machine setup, tool offsets, and work coordinate system (WCS) adjustments; verify and adjust programs through dry-runs and test cuts.

Monitor machining processes and make real-time adjustments to maintain part quality and throughput.

Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot machine and program issues, and escalate complex problems to engineering or maintenance.

Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges; document inspection results and maintain accurate production records.

Collaborate with engineers, quality, and production teams to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and minimize scrap.

Train and mentor junior machinists and operators on safe machine operation, setup procedures, and best practices.

Adhere to company safety policies, maintain a clean workstation, and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on experience programming and operating CNC lathes and mills in a production environment.

Proven experience with CNC programming (G-code) and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent).

Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with manual setups, tooling selection, and workholding for turning and milling operations.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and GD&T.

Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and basic inspection techniques.

Familiarity with shop math, feeds and speeds calculations, and machining best practices.

Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to optimize programs for quality and efficiency.

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.

CMM experience is a plus and will be considered a strong advantage.

Commitment to workplace safety and experience following TPM/Lean or continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
