Full Job Description

THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) Human Resource Office Region 4 is seeking a Human Resource Assistant 2. This position serves as the primary time advisor for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Somerset and as backup time advisor for SCI Laurel Highlands. Your work will ensure employees are compensated accurately and in a timely manner. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on maintaining accurate payroll and timekeeping activities that support key HR processes. As a Human Resource Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Audit Time Records: Examine daily reports and correct errors as needed, complete quarterly post audit reviews, and submit all appropriate documentation for both
Provide Timekeeping Guidance: Research and respond to questions from employees regarding payroll, overtime, attendance, leave usage, and related matters; train new timekeepers
Review System Input: Check daily work to ensure facility timekeepers are coding employee time accurately and in accordance with policy and contract requirements
Monitor Usage Patterns: Review individual employee time records to ensure leave is used in accordance with rules and to track long-term changes in employee status
Process Employment Transactions: Prepare paperwork and update internal systems for leave payouts, separations, schedule changes, and other employee action requests

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to one day per week, after successful completion of the six-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Somerset. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
