Full Job Description

We're looking for someone with a passion for service, who knows what a well run group-home looks like, and has the leadership capacity to help build it.

As a Resident Manager of Riverquest Group Home, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a 16 person group home that care for individuals with intellectual discabilities (IDD) and/or adults with physical and developmental disabilities (APDD). This role ensures that residents receive safe, respectful, and individualized care while meeting all regulatory, licensing, and organizational requirements. The Resident Manager leads and supports Direct Support Staff (DSP) staff, manages schedules, maintains the home environment, and serves as the primary contact for residents’ families, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies. You will work closely with our Administrator and be their go-to person for all resident needs in the home.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll oversee the daily operation of the home, which means managing staff, supporting residents, staying on top of compliance requirements, and making sure nothing important falls through the cracks.

More specifically, that looks like:

Implementing plans of care and helping resident well-being
Ensuring all charting is accurate and complete
Managing medication administration and training staff to do the same
Scheduling shifts and managing employee hours
Serving as a liaison between Riverquest and resident guardians, families, and healthcare providers
Helping with hiring, onboarding, and coaching DSPs
Filling in for DSPs and providing direct care for residents

What We're Looking For

You've worked in residential care long enough to know what good looks like. You've supported individuals with IDD or APDD, you understand person-centered care, and you've had at least some responsibility for staff — whether formal or informal. You've navigated a licensing inspection, responded to a crisis without losing your composure, and communicated with a family member who needed answers.

Person Centered Care - Demonstrates empathy, patience, and respect while prioritizing residents' preferences and goals.
Leadership & Staff Development - The ability to guide, motivate, and develop DSP staff to perform at a high level, meet training requirements, and stay engaged in their work.
Communication and Relationship Management - The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents, families, healthcare providers, and licensing agencies while maintaining trust with all stakeholders.
Organizational Skills and Time Management - The ability to manage competing demands from scheduling, documentation, care plan follow-through, medication management, and compliance deadlines.
Regulatory Knowledge and Compliance - Understanding of and adherence to residential licensing requirements, federal/state regulations, and agency policies; Able to keep the home in continuous compliance.
Crisis Management - Maintains composure and uses approved techniques to de-escalate challenging situations.

Prior experience in a licensed residential care setting is required. Experience with IDD or APDD populations, medication management, and Alaska DHSS licensing is a significant plus.

Experience Requirements

At least 2 years of documented experience serving in licensed residential care and Completion of a State of Alaska approved management/administrative training
OR At least 2 years of documented experience serving in licensed residential care and completion of a qualifying Nurse Aide Training program
OR have an active LPN or RN license and documented experience serving in licensed residential care

Experience with IDD or APD populations is a plus
