Job Overview
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a correctional facility setting, where your expertise will directly impact the health and well-being of individuals in custody. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing care, promote health education, and support safety protocols within a secure environment. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient-centered care, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and facility policies. Responsibilities

Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and treatments following established protocols while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Conduct triage evaluations to prioritize care needs efficiently and accurately in urgent situations.
Manage complex medical documentation, including medical records, nursing notes, ICD-10 coding for diagnoses, and CPT coding for procedures.
Assist with specialized procedures such as catheterization, wound suturing, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques.
Monitor patients’ physiological responses during acute care scenarios like trauma or emergency medicine cases; utilize airway management and ventilator support when necessary.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines—including physicians in hospital medicine or ICU settings—to coordinate discharge planning and ongoing care.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
Support infection control practices and adhere to safety standards during specimen collection, phlebotomy, and other invasive procedures.
Provide compassionate care for individuals with chronic conditions in a correctional setting.
Engage in patient education on health coaching topics like medication management, nutrition, or chronic disease management tailored for senior care populations.

Experience

Valid Nurse (RN/LPN) license with current state certification required.
At least 1 year nursing experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation processes is essential for accurate documentation and billing practices.
Knowledge of infection control protocols and sterile techniques applicable to correctional health settings is required.
Strong assessment skills in triage situations combined with the ability to work with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges ensures comprehensive patient support.
