Full Job Description

Full-Time, 10-Month Employee, Sagamore Hills Campus

Make a difference every day! Lawrence School seeks a highly qualified, charismatic, and inspiring educator to teach math to 9th-12th grade students.

Through professional development and continuous on-site training, our talented faculty of educators reach beyond their content areas to become experts in the way learners process information. JOB DUTIES:

Classroom Instruction & Management:

Prepare thoroughly for each assigned academic period to ensure that content is presented in a structured, systematic way and that student skill and knowledge deficits are remediated appropriately
Utilize specialized Lawrence School instructional methodology, following appropriate training in such models
Maintain a highly structured classroom environment that minimizes disruptions and distractions and is supportive of all students and their unique learning needs
Follow Assertive Discipline in responding to student behavior and seeks assistance from members of the Campus Leadership Council when situations are intense or ambiguous
Perform assigned teacher duties appropriately, consistently, and promptly
Ensure that members of the school’s administrative staff have accurate and up-to-date attendance information for each student

Preparation & Follow-Up:

Input grades into the approved database system, ensuring that the current week’s grades are posted for viewing by parents by Friday of each week
Complete curriculum maps biweekly to plan how academic skills are being taught, executive function needs are supported, and skills are assessed
Complete assigned reports thoroughly and promptly, including IEP progress reports, grade reports, and other documents
Communicate effectively and frequently with members of the school’s Campus Leadership Council on issues related to students, parents, or the school's operation
Communicate effectively and frequently with parents, meeting or exceeding contract requirements set for teachers by the school’s administration; Follow up on parent contacts within 24 hours
Prepare for and participate in parent conference events in November and March and prepare for and participate in special meetings related to students assigned to the teacher’s classroom
Report any case of suspected child abuse or neglect to the Head of Upper School, Division Directors, or Head of School on the same day that the information was received from a student
Review and recommend updates to Student Learning Plans.; Use information from Learning Plans to inform teaching practice for individual students
Utilize the various technology tools that are present in the classroom and available to both teachers and students

Outside of the Classroom:

The teacher’s workload extends beyond 8:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Teacher tasks, including, but not limited to, lesson planning, parent communication, grading, maintaining curriculum maps, and professional development, must be completed regardless of contract hours.

Attend and contribute positively to weekly Professional Learning Community meetings
Attendance at PLC is mandatory. Teachers must inform the Academic Dean and Division Director at least 24 hours in advance if they are unable to attend due to schedule conflicts
Complete assigned PLC tasks
Complete continuing professional development training at Lawrence School and educational conferences/workshops, as assigned
Advise at least one extracurricular or athletic program per year
Participate in evening and weekend events as needed to support students and the operation of the school as a whole

Other Responsibilities:

Treat each student, co-worker, parent, and community member with consistent respect and actively seek opportunities for cooperation and collaboration
Maintain a positive, professional presence in the school while attending school-sponsored activities and when representing Lawrence School in the larger community
Maintain accurate records and complete and submit required paperwork to the proper office according to the deadline
Support the mission of Lawrence School
Perform other work-related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required
ODEW Teacher certification required; Intervention Specialist K-12 preferred; Non-tax certification will be considered
Affinity for working with students with special learning needs is required
Must be able to circulate throughout the classroom during instructional periods
Must be able to manage stress adaptively, manage the behavior of students effectively, and respond appropriately to school emergencies
Previous experience as a classroom teacher is preferred
