Overview

Join our dedicated emergency response team as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, where your skills will make a vital difference in saving lives and providing critical care in urgent situations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in fast-paced environments, delivering essential pre-hospital medical services with professionalism and compassion. As an EMT - Basic, you will be the frontline responder, ensuring patients receive timely, high-quality care while maintaining safety and efficiency on every call. This paid position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to develop their emergency medicine expertise and contribute meaningfully to community health.

Responsibilities

Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing immediate medical assistance and stabilization for patients of all ages.
Assess patient conditions through thorough physical examinations and vital signs monitoring, utilizing your knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Perform patient transport safely using emergency vehicles, adhering to traffic laws and operational protocols.
Manage airway emergencies, including airway management techniques such as suctioning and ventilation support.
Administer basic life support (BLS), medications, injections, and other emergency interventions following established protocols.
Operate medical equipment accurately, including DME (Durable Medical Equipment), monitors, and other critical devices during patient care.
Collaborate with incident command teams during multi-agency responses, ensuring effective communication and coordination in trauma or medical emergencies.
Navigate city streets efficiently to reach incident sites quickly while maintaining safety standards.
Assist in triage at Level I or Level II trauma centers, prioritizing patient needs based on severity of injuries or illnesses.
Document all patient assessments, treatments, and transport details meticulously for legal and medical records.

Skills

Proven EMT experience with a strong foundation in emergency medicine procedures.
Critical care experience within hospital settings or during critical care transport operations.
Knowledge of trauma medicine, cardiovascular emergency response, pediatric emergency care, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and trauma care protocols.
Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, venipuncture techniques, and aseptic procedures.
Ability to perform physical examinations accurately and assess vital signs effectively.
Experience with incident command systems and emergency response procedures in high-pressure environments.
Skilled in the operation of medical equipment such as monitors, ventilators, and DME devices.
Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and injection techniques.
Ability to handle heavy lifting safely during patient extrication or equipment setup.
Excellent communication skills for patient care instructions and coordination with healthcare teams.
Valid driver’s license with experience operating emergency vehicles responsibly under urgent conditions.
