Position Summary
Explore Your Wild Youth Programs is a nonprofit youth-serving organization dedicated to providing engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and support academic success. We are seeking two passionate, dependable, and enthusiastic Part-Time Academic Support Specialists to join our 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) after-school programs serving students in both our Ellensburg and Selah programs (one specialist for each location).
This position is ideal for educators, paraeducators, college graduates, education majors, retired teachers, or individuals with experience working with youth who are passionate about helping students succeed through engaging academic enrichment.

Work Schedule
Selah: Monday – Friday 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Teachers may arrive later if teaching during the school day.
Ellensburg: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 2:15 PM – 4:30 PM and Wed 12:15-2:30PM
Teachers may arrive later if teaching during the school day.
We get Christmas Break or Spring Break off along with all school holidays!
Compensation
- $22.00+ per hour DOE
- Washington State Certified Teachers: $28.00 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Development & Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging academic enrichment activities.
- Reinforce school-day learning in reading, math, science, STEM, and literacy.
- Develop project-based, hands-on learning experiences.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying academic abilities.
2. Student Support & Small Group Instruction
- Provide homework assistance and targeted academic interventions.
- Work with individuals and small groups to improve academic achievement.
- Identify learning gaps and implement strategies to help students succeed.
- Foster an engaging and supportive learning environment.
3. Academic Quality & SELPQA Best Practices
Support high-quality academic programming by implementing instructional practices aligned with the SEL Program Quality Assessment (SELPQA) framework that strengthen student learning. Responsibilities include:
- Creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
- Using purposeful instructional strategies that promote participation and critical thinking.
- Setting clear academic goals and providing meaningful feedback.
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction based on student needs.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
- Experience working with elementary or middle school students
- Washington State Teaching Certificate preferred
- College degree or coursework in Education or a related field preferred
- Ability to commit to the school-year schedule
- Dependable attendance and professionalism
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
