Accounting and Purchasing Manager

Who We Are
We’re The Soap Guy, the largest natural (cold-processed) soap wholesaler in the U.S. We also manufacture bath bombs, lotions, sugar scrubs, and body butters. As we continue to grow, we need a detail-oriented professional who can own both our accounting and purchasing functions.

Role Overview
As our Accounting and Purchasing Manager, you’ll handle a range of financial tasks—from bill entry and bank reconciliation to budgeting and profitability analysis. You’ll also manage purchasing to ensure orders are accurate, properly received, and cost-effective. In short, you’ll be the go-to person for keeping our financials in order and our stockroom filled with exactly what we need—no more, no less.

Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Management

Bill Entry & Reconciliation: Record invoices, verify accuracy, and reconcile accounts regularly.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Track and pay sales tax, validate IRS payments, and prepare for year-end closeouts.
Financial Analysis: Evaluate profitability of specific projects and customers; produce clear, actionable reports.
Budgeting & Controls: Set up and monitor budgets to prevent overspending; maintain checks and balances on spending.

2. Purchasing & Receiving Oversight

Order Management: Place orders for raw materials, supplies, and other essentials
Receipt Validation: Ensure that what we receive matches the purchase order and invoice amounts.
Vendor Coordination: Build positive vendor relationships, negotiate costs, and resolve discrepancies quickly.
Collaboration: Work with other departments to confirm product needs, manage schedules, and adjust orders as necessary.

Qualifications

Office/Accounting Experience: Several years of hands-on work in an office environment dealing with accounting or bookkeeping tasks.
Knowledge of Basic Accounting Principles: Comfortable with general ledger, reconciliations, and year-end procedures.
Organizational Skills: Able to prioritize multiple tasks (like bill entry, budgeting, and purchase order tracking) without missing deadlines.
Analytical Mindset: Adept at spotting inconsistencies, investigating discrepancies, and producing simple financial insights.
Effective Communicator: Works well with vendors, team members, and management—verbal and written.
Tech Comfort: Comfortable using spreadsheets and basic accounting software; open to learning new systems/tools.
