PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee compliance with federal regulations regarding safety and security procedures, inspection, testing, and servicing of departmental equipment.
Oversee procedures are in place to minimize the danger of violent crime and accidents against Credit Union employees and members.
Oversee staff training for new hires and periodically thereafter regarding physical security and safety. Training should be tailored to employee’s job functions and responsibilities.
Oversee investigations of known or suspected physical crimes against Credit Union property, staff and members.
Oversee case file and evidence documentation to aid law enforcement with successful prosecution of those perpetrating physical crime against the Credit Union, staff, and members.
Complete reports or updates to management regarding open investigations.
Review alarms and other security devices for adequacy and make recommendations for replacement and/or additional equipment.
Work with the Operational Services Director on ordering and installation of security and safety equipment for new branches and renovations.
Help maintain inventory of Credit Union safety and security equipment.
Oversee the inspection of all buildings and structures to identify potential fire and safety hazards and fire and safety code violations. Ensure fire and safety inspection reports are written, fire and safety code violations observed, and recommendations or actions are documented.
Oversee the physical security program, including installation, maintenance and monitoring of surveillance and security equipment.
Monitor surveillance and security systems and ensure all issues are promptly addressed and resolved.
Oversee onsite inspections are completed as recommended by building and safety codes.
Plan and recommend new equipment or system upgrades as needed.
Oversee compliance with all current fire and safety codes, fire prevention procedures, and safety procedures.
Oversee fire protection systems are tested and function properly, according to code.
Ensure properties that store, handle and use hazardous materials comply with laws, codes and regulations.
Oversee and revise the Emergency Response Plan as needed, including emergency response plans for all Credit Union locations.
Periodically review fire code requirements, fire prevention information and safety information with Credit Union staff. Review with contractors and vendors as needed.
Oversee periodic evacuation drills in accordance with the Credit Union’s Business Continuity Plan.
Establish and maintain goals, objectives, benchmarks, accountability standards and rewards.
Complete required reports and records accurately and promptly.
Guide and manage the Safety and Security department, including scheduling adequate staff to ensure efficient department operations, conducting performance reviews, coaching employees, maintaining efficient employee relations, and provided additional training, as needed.
Demonstrate dependability and a commitment to quality and flexibility to ensure department needs and Credit Union goals are attained.
Implement and monitor the budget for the department.
Monitor department activity, including transactions, volume and errors.
Research and solve staff and member questions and/or problems.
Follow all Credit Union policies, procedures and regulations.
Represent the Credit Union in a professional manner (including but not limited to appearance, behavior and performance).
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Work cooperatively with others.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience – Bachelors’ Degree in a related field from an accredited College or University preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of job-related experience required; seven years of job-related experience preferred.
Qualifications and Requirements – Individual must possess the knowledge skills and ability required to execute the essential functions in a satisfactory manner.
Management Responsibilities – This position has management responsibilities. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Safety, Security, and Supplies Department. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the Credit Union's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
