Full Job Description

Account Manager – Overview

The Account Manager plays a critical role in developing, sustaining, and expanding relationships with shipper clients within a fast-paced logistics brokerage environment. This individual acts as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring exceptional service execution, proactive communication, and strategic partnership that supports customer growth and long-term retention. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, detail-oriented, and highly capable of managing day-to-day operations while identifying new revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

Serve as the main liaison for assigned customers, providing consistent communication, updates, and problem-solving support.
Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders to enhance trust, satisfaction, and account retention.
Conduct regular business reviews to evaluate performance, KPIs, service gaps, and new opportunities.

Operational Execution

Manage the full lifecycle of shipment tender acceptance, carrier procurement, tracking, exception handling, and delivery confirmation.
Ensure all load details are accurate and updated in the TMS (pickup/delivery times, accessorials, notes, contacts, etc.).
Proactively address service issues, delays, or disruptions, offering solutions that align with customer priorities.
Collaborate closely with carrier sales, operations, and leadership teams to ensure smooth execution.

Sales Growth & Revenue Development

Identify opportunities to increase wallet share with existing customers, including new lanes, modes, or service expansions.
Quote competitive rates based on market conditions, carrier costs, and customer expectations.
Bonus/commission earned as per plan definition

Carrier & Network Coordination

Work with carrier sales reps to source the best-fit carriers based on service requirements, mode, and margin goals.
Communicate customer expectations clearly to carrier partners to ensure seamless service.
Monitor carrier performance within assigned accounts and escalate or adjust as needed.

Data, Reporting & Analysis

Maintain KPIs for service performance, on-time metrics, margins, and volume trends.
Prepare account-specific reporting for internal leadership and customer-facing reviews.
Use data to recommend operational improvements or cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements

1–3+ years of experience in logistics brokerage, transportation, or supply chain preferred.
Strong understanding of freight operations (TL, LTL, multimodal).
Proven customer-facing communication and relationship-management skills.
Ability to interpret market conditions and align solutions with customer needs.
Solid negotiation capabilities with both customers and carriers.
Proficiency with TMS systems, load tracking tools, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Ability to multitask in a fast-moving environment with high attention to detail.
