Store Director / Assistant Store Director – Grocery

Fresh Food Retail Leadership | Multiple Opportunities | $80,000–$110,000

This opportunity requires prior leadership experience as either a Store Director, or an Assistant Store Director within a grocery store or supermarket environment.

Candidates whose experience is limited to managing individual departments (Produce, Meat, Bakery, Deli, Grocery, Front End, etc.) will not be considered. This role is responsible for leading the overall operation of an entire grocery store.

We are conducting a confidential search for experienced Store Directors and Assistant Store Directors to lead high-volume grocery operations throughout the Chicagoland area.

What You'll Do

Lead the overall operation of a high-volume grocery store, ensuring operational excellence across all departments.
Drive financial performance through labor management, inventory control, shrink reduction, merchandising, sales growth, and profitability.
Coach, mentor, and develop department managers while building a high-performing leadership team.
Ensure exceptional customer service, store presentation, food safety, and operational compliance.
Analyze business metrics and implement strategies to improve operational and financial performance.
Recruit, hire, develop, and retain top talent while creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Lead from the floor with a hands-on leadership style, supporting your team during peak business periods.
Partner with executive leadership to execute company initiatives and achieve store performance goals.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, applicants MUST meet ALL of the following requirements:

Current or recent experience as a Store Director, or an Assistant Store Director grocery store, supermarket or major retailer with grocery section
Experience overseeing the entire operation of a grocery store—not a single department.
Proven success leading multiple department managers within a high-volume grocery environment.
Strong financial acumen, including labor management, inventory, shrink, merchandising, and P&L performance.
Demonstrated success developing leaders and building high-performing teams.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
A hands-on leadership style with a passion for operational excellence and people development.

Applicants whose experience is limited to Produce, Meat, Bakery, Deli, Grocery, Front End, or other department management positions without overall store leadership responsibility will not be considered.
