Requirements to Qualify:
One year of accounting clerical experience at the level of Account Clerk I.
Special Requirement Information
- Experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Account Clerk I is defined as performing accounting clerical work in the maintenance of accounting records within a comprehensive, established framework of procedures, under general supervision. You may still qualify even if your job title isn’t exactly the same as the ones listed. What matters is that your experience is at a similar level — meaning your job involves similar responsibilities, requires comparable skills and knowledge, and takes place within a similar organizational structure. Please provide a clear explanation of your experience to demonstrate that it is at the appropriate level.
Endorsement of County Qualifications:
If you performed work that differs from the duties described in your class specification and believe you qualify for this opportunity, please provide verification via official documentation of additional responsibility bonus, out-of-class bonus, temporary assignment bonus or reclassification study with CEO Classification within seven (7) calendar days from the last day of filing. Employees do not need to submit such verification if they hold or have held a position that regularly performs functions in alignment with the requirements

Physical Class:
Physical Class II – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

This examination will consist of TWO (2) parts:

Accounts Payable: Purchase Orders, Invoices and Claims, and Expense Vouchers.

Accounts Receivable: Invoice Processing, Check and Cash Receipts, Aging Reports, and Vendor Registrations

Microsoft Excel 365: Basic Text and Cell Formatting, Visual Enhancements, Using Functions and Formulas, Printing an Excel Workbook, Applying Passwords and Encryption to an Excel Workbook, Conditional Formatting, and Charts and Data Tables
Applicants may be invited to participate in both Part I and Part II. However, only those who meet the Requirements to Qualify and receive a passing score of 70% or higher in Part I will have Part II scored.
Applicants must meet the requirements and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on each of the multiple-choice and/or simulation assessments in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Exam Review:
Some exam components are not subject to review by candidates. Multiple-choice and simulation assessments are not reviewable by candidates per CSR 7.19.
Transfer of Test Responses:

Applicants who are concurrently applying to the Account Clerk I, R0577O-R exam will only need to take identical test assessments once.

If you have taken identical assessments recently for other exams, your responses may be automatically transferred to this exam.

This examination contains test components that may be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to those exams.
Test Preparation:
We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of six (6) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies throughout Los Angeles County, as they occur.
Application and Filing Information:
We only accept applications filed online. Applications submitted by U.S. mail, fax, or in person are not accepted. Apply online by clicking on the green "Apply" button at the top right of this posting. This website can also be used to get application status updates.
Please fill out the application completely. Provide relevant experience, including employer's name and address, job title, beginning and ending dates, number of hours worked per week, and description of work performed.
We may verify information included in the application at any point during the examination and hiring process, including after an appointment has been made. Falsification of information could result in the refusal of the application or the rescission of the appointment. Copying verbiage from the Requirements or class specification as your work experience will not be sufficient to demonstrate meeting the requirements. Doing so may result in an incomplete application and may lead to disqualification.
We will send notifications to the email address provided in the application, so it is important that a valid email address is provided. Applicants who unsubscribe or opt out of email communications may access notices by logging into governmentjobs.com and reviewing the profile inbox. It is every applicant's responsibility to take steps to view correspondence, and we will not consider claims of missing notices to be a valid reason for rescheduling an exam part. New email addresses need to be verified. This only needs to be done once per email address and can be done at any time by logging in to governmentjobs.com and following the prompts. This is to enhance the security of the online application and to prevent incorrectly entered email addresses.
Federal law requires that all employed persons have a Social Security Number, so include yours when applying.
For candidates who may not have regular access to a computer or the internet, applications can be completed on computers at public libraries throughout Los Angeles County.
All applicants must file their application online using their own user ID and password. Using a family member's or friend's login information may erase a candidate's original application record.
