Position: Manager of Pet Resource Center & Animal Services
Department: Operations
Reports To: Director of Lifesaving Integration
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Flexibility, on-call, and some holidays are required to accommodate the needs of the department and organization
Starting Salary: $21.50 – $26.50/hour

What You’ll Do:

As the Manager of Pet Resource Center & Animal Services, you will oversee a team responsible for community support, intake pathways, and humane field response. You will:

Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team

Supervise Animal Services Officers and PRC staff, ensuring coaching, accountability, and ongoing skills development
Foster a positive, supportive culture grounded in trauma-informed practice, empathy, and equitable service
Build strong communication pathways across shelter departments to support high-quality care and seamless operations

Strengthen Community Support & Intake Services

Oversee managed intake, crisis pet retention, and resource-navigation programs
Ensure responsive, equitable service delivery for community members seeking help
Guide staff in solution-focused support, conflict resolution, and de-escalation

Support Safe, Effective Animal Services Field Response

Ensure compliance with local ordinances, animal welfare laws, and humane handling standards
Review field cases, documentation, and data to ensure quality, safety, and consistency
Cultivate a field response philosophy that prioritizes education, problem-solving, and community trust

Advance Lifesaving and Capacity for Care

Use data, trends, and metrics to drive decision-making
Partner with shelter leadership to strengthen pathways, reduce bottlenecks, and increase operational flow
Help develop SOPs, workflows, training, and program improvements

Manage Daily Operations & Administration

Oversee scheduling, staffing, vehicle/equipment management, and operational readiness
Ensure accurate, timely documentation and case management
Support vaccine clinics, outreach events, and partnerships that extend PRC and Animal Services impact

Who You Are:

We're looking for a leader who is:

Compassionate, objective, and solutions-oriented, especially when emotions run high
Skilled at coaching, leading teams, and fostering accountability
Experienced in community-based animal welfare, managed intake, field services, or social services (strongly preferred)
Knowledgeable about animal welfare laws, public health regulations, and community resource ecosystems
A strong communicator who excels in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and trauma-informed communication
Comfortable with data, metrics, and technology (Google Workspace, shelter software, case management tools)
Highly organized, adaptable, and ready to lead in a fast-paced environment
Able to work a flexible schedule, including at least one weekend day and occasional evenings/holidays/on-call
Possesses a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check
NACA certifications are highly valued; willingness to obtain them within 6 months is required

Work Environment & Schedule:

Full-time role, typically 5 shifts per week, with on-call duties as needed
Must be available for at least one weekend shift per week, plus some evenings and holidays
Field and shelter-based work with exposure to animals, chemicals, extreme weather, and emotionally sensitive situations
Requires independent judgement, teamwork, and high emotional intelligence
This role is hands-on and highly collaborative, especially with PRC, Field Services, Adoptions, Behavior, and Veterinary teams
