Position Purpose

The Assistant Store Director supports the Store Director in leading all aspects of store operations, including sales growth, customer service, merchandising, labor management, associate development, safety, and operational excellence. This position serves as a key member of the store leadership team, helping drive financial performance while ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and a productive work environment for associates. The Assistant Store Director assumes responsibility for overall store operations in the absence of the Store Director.

Key Responsibilities Store Operations

Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the store.
Ensure company policies, procedures, and operational standards are consistently executed.
Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and customer-ready store environment.
Monitor store conditions and address operational opportunities promptly.
Support execution of company initiatives, promotions, merchandising programs, and seasonal events.
Serve as Manager-on-Duty and assume full store responsibility when assigned.

Sales & Financial Performance

Support achievement of store sales, profit, and productivity goals.
Monitor key performance indicators and operational metrics.
Assist in developing and implementing action plans to improve store performance.
Help manage labor expenses through effective scheduling and productivity planning.
Support shrink reduction and loss prevention efforts.
Drive sales through exceptional operational execution and customer service.

Customer Experience

Promote and model a customer-first culture throughout the store.
Ensure customers receive exceptional service from all store associates.
Address customer issues and concerns promptly and professionally.
Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
Foster a positive shopping experience that increases customer loyalty and retention.

Leadership & Associate Development

Recruit, train, coach, and develop store associates and department managers.
Provide performance feedback and support associate development plans.
Promote accountability, teamwork, and engagement throughout the store.
Assist in succession planning and leadership development efforts.
Conduct performance evaluations and support corrective action processes when necessary.
Lead and motivate teams to achieve operational and service objectives.

Merchandising & Inventory Management

Ensure departments maintain in-stock conditions and merchandising standards.
Monitor inventory levels, ordering practices, and inventory accuracy.
Support execution of promotional displays, seasonal events, and merchandising programs.
Review operational reports and identify opportunities to improve inventory performance.
Partner with department leaders to maximize product availability and presentation.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
Promote a safe working and shopping environment.
Conduct routine inspections and address safety concerns immediately.
Support workplace safety initiatives and associate training programs.
Ensure proper handling of confidential information and company assets.

Community & Store Leadership

Support community involvement and company-sponsored programs.
Foster strong relationships with customers, associates, and business partners.
Act as a leader and representative of the company within the store and local community.
Support change management initiatives and company growth strategies.
