Full Job Description

Gunter Construction is seeking a driven and experienced Construction Superintendent to lead heavy civil construction projects from groundbreaking through final completion. The Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field operations while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to developing high-performing field teams.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects, including street rehabilitation, concrete paving, flatwork, dirt work, and municipal infrastructure.

· Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee all phases of construction from project startup through final completion.

· Develop and maintain short-term and long-range look-ahead schedules to ensure projects remain on schedule.

· Monitor labor, equipment, materials, production, and project costs to support overall project profitability.

· Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.

· Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, subcontractors, inspectors, utility companies.

· Conduct daily jobsite inspections and weekly safety meetings while enforcing OSHA regulations and company safety policies.

· Ensure all work meets project specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.

· Review and approve daily reports, timecards, production quantities, and project documentation for accuracy.

· Identify and resolve field issues, scheduling conflicts, and unforeseen project challenges in a timely manner.

· Coordinate equipment, material deliveries, and manpower to maintain efficient project operations.

· Promote a positive safety culture by coaching employees, recognizing hazards, and ensuring corrective actions are completed.

Qualifications

· Minimum of 5 years of heavy civil or concrete construction experience.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, General Foreman, or other field leadership role.

· Experience managing street rehabilitation, concrete paving, flatwork, dirt work, utility, and municipal infrastructure projects.

· Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations and industry best practices.

· OSHA 30 Construction certification.

· Working knowledge of MoDOT, KDOT

· Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.

· Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

· Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
