Idaho Division of Veterans Services – Caring for America's Heroes

Technical Records Specialist 1

This position will remain open until filled

The Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is recruiting for a full-time Technical Records Specialist 1 position to support the Business Office and Fiscal Team at the Lewiston Veterans Home.

The ideal candidates will be proactive, professional, and self-motivated, possessing exceptional customer service and organizational skills, pays attention to detail and has some financial office experience. We work hard to be team-focused, to celebrate our staff, and to end our workday knowing that we've made a difference in the lives of our residents.

Responsibilities:

Greet residents, visitors and addresses walk- in traffic.
Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments.
Conduct involved searches which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with clients, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information.
Perform specialized support work that involves an in-depth knowledge of the program.
Review, evaluate, approve, and process records and/or documents.
Determine acceptability or conformance to eligibility requirements according to rules, regulations, statutes, and program policies and procedures.
Explain requirements, processes, and procedures to customers.
Monitor, update and maintain manual and/or computerized records systems; and develop reports.
Distribute mail to appropriate departments, floors, and residents.
Monitor cash box.
Reconcile resident accounts and resolve discrepancies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
Interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments.
Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.

MQ Specialties:

Some knowledge of:

Medical terminology and the general benefits of Medicaid, Medicare, and major insurance companies.
Financial record keeping; bookkeeping practices; payroll methods.

Experience:

Using spreadsheet software; storing, retrieving, and compiling information in a report format using data base software.
Working with sensitive or restricted data.
Using MS Excel and MS Access software.
