Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization. This role is essential for the smooth functioning of our accounting department and offers opportunities for professional growth.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports and statements.
Conduct research on various financial topics, including wills, trusts, estate law, and asset management.
Support the wealth management team by preparing client portfolios and conducting market analysis.
Collaborate with the investment management team to analyze investment opportunities and assist with portfolio management.
Provide administrative support for financial sales activities, including client communications and documentation.
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Assist in the development of financial strategies to enhance overall company performance.
Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and contribute ideas for improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, performs, and supervises recording transactions to accounts receivable and payable;
Classifies and records daily receipts and disbursements to journals; totals and balances accounts monthly; posts to general ledger and control accounts.
Applies knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices; of rules, and regulations controlling budgetary, internal record keeping and contract procedures in performance of job duties.
May maintain payroll transactions.
May utilize computer equipment for data entry and generating financial reports.
Performs related work as required.
Assist in budgeting processes by providing necessary financial data and reports.
Generate financial reports in accordance with GAAP standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Utilize financial software, including Quicken, to maintain accurate records and streamline accounting processes.
Support governmental accounting practices as required by specific projects or funding sources.
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information for reporting purposes.
Experience
Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with GAAP principles and practices is a plus.
Proficiency in financial software applications, particularly Quicken or similar tools.
Strong with attention to detail for accurate financial reporting.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.
Experience with financial report writing and governmental accounting will be considered an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a financial clerk.
CPA certification is advantageous.
Proven experience as a Finance Clerk
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and financial transactions
Familiarity with financial regulations, i.e. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage.
Take action to satisfy angry clients, resolving issues quickly and tactfully and putting negotiation techniques into practice
