About Pain Alternatives

Pain Alternatives is a multidisciplinary practice focused on helping patients with acute and chronic pain using non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical approaches. Rather than relying on a single treatment, we bring together complementary therapies to address pain, function, mobility, and the factors that may be contributing to a patient's condition.

Our team utilizes chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage and manual therapy, laser therapy, and Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM). We are looking for a Licensed Massage Therapist who is excited about working collaboratively as part of this approach.

This is an excellent opportunity for a massage therapist who wants to expand beyond a traditional massage setting. Training will be provided in additional therapies and clinical approaches used within Pain Alternatives.

The Role

As a Clinical Massage & Manual Therapy Practitioner, you will provide therapeutic massage and manual therapy for patients experiencing pain and musculoskeletal conditions. You will work alongside other practitioners to help develop coordinated treatment strategies based on each patient's individual needs.

This position is not limited to massage therapy. We are looking for someone who enjoys learning, working as part of a team, and assisting with other aspects of patient care and clinic operations. Depending on training, qualifications, and scope of practice, you may assist with therapies and procedures used within Pain Alternatives.

Responsibilities

Provide therapeutic massage and manual therapy focused on pain relief, mobility, recovery, and improved function
Assess patients within the massage therapist's scope of practice and tailor treatment to individual needs
Utilize techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial techniques, trigger point therapy, stretching, and other appropriate manual therapies
Collaborate with our chiropractic and acupuncture practitioners as part of an integrated approach to pain management
Participate in training in additional therapeutic approaches and technologies used at Pain Alternatives
Assist with laser therapy, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, and other services when appropriately trained and permitted within scope
Educate patients about self-care strategies that may support their treatment
Document treatments and patient response accurately and professionally
Help maintain treatment rooms, equipment, and an efficient clinical environment
Assist the Pain Alternatives team with clinical and operational duties as needed
Communicate with patients and other practitioners to provide a professional, supportive patient experience

Qualifications

Current Michigan Massage Therapist license
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, musculoskeletal conditions, and pain
Experience with therapeutic, clinical, deep tissue, myofascial, or similar massage techniques
Interest in treating patients with acute and chronic pain rather than providing primarily relaxation or spa massage
Comfortable working collaboratively with practitioners from other healthcare disciplines
Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new therapeutic approaches
Dependable, professional, and comfortable taking on a variety of responsibilities within a growing practice
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in a chiropractic, acupuncture, physical rehabilitation, pain management, or other healthcare setting is helpful but not required
