Summary of Position:

This position under the supervision of the Accounting Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As our Accounting Clerk, you will keep our financial wheels turning. You will manage high-volume transactions ranging from daily passenger fare reconciliations to major fleet maintenance invoices.

Reconcile Fare Revenue: Validate daily cash and mobile app revenues against system logs to ensure every cent is accounted for.
Fuel & Fleet Accounts Payable: Process high-volume purchase orders and vendor invoices for fuel, vehicle parts, and specialized transit equipment.
Grant & Funding Tracking: Code and track expenditures tied to federal, state, and local transit grants (such as FTA funding) with total accuracy.
Support Federal Compliance: Maintain and organize the daily financial data required for our mandatory National Transit Database (NTD) filings.
Audit Readiness: Keep immaculate digital and physical financial trails to ensure seamless municipal and state audits.

Qualification Requirements:

Tech Savvy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and the ability to adapt to specialized transit management software.
Detail-Oriented: A strict eye for spotting numbers that do not match and a natural knack for problem-solving.
Integrity: A strong commitment to public transparency, internal controls, and ethical financial practices.
Professional: Be enthusiastic, self-motivated and work with public and employees in a professional manner.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Experience: 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting clerk experience (experience in public sector, municipal government, or logistics is a major plus).
Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
