The NC Youth Violence Prevention Center (NC-YVPC) is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and community-minded professional to serve as a Suicide Prevention Outreach Coordinator. This position is an opportunity to build community partnerships, expand suicide prevention education and awareness, coordinate engaging training opportunities, and support youth-centered prevention activities across eastern North Carolina, particularly Robeson and surrounding counties.
NC-YVPC is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to helping children, adolescents, families, and communities address trauma, violence, abuse, adversity, and other behavioral health challenges. The Outreach Coordinator will play an important role in expanding prevention education and strengthening the network of community partners working to promote youth and community well-being.

Position Summary
The Suicide Prevention Outreach Coordinator leads community outreach, training logistics, partner engagement, public awareness, and SEE-IT youth engagement activities. The position coordinates outreach activities and community screening events, supports suicide prevention education and professional training, and develops partnerships with organizations serving children, adolescents, families, and communities.
The Coordinator will also facilitate or coordinate SEE-IT interactive theater workshops and work closely with community partners to strengthen prevention messaging, increase help-seeking, and connect youth and families with appropriate resources. Training on SEE-IT facilitation will be provided.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate outreach activities, community screening events, and suicide prevention education.
- Host bimonthly Lunch & Learn webinars and support trainings for professionals, community health workers, graduate students, peers, caregivers, and community partners.
- Facilitate or coordinate SEE-IT interactive theater workshops focused on help-seeking, coping skills, peer support, adult communication, and suicide prevention education.
- Develop new partnerships and coordinate outreach with the Lumbee Tribe, Boys & Girls Clubs, ROAR Coalition, and other youth-serving partners.
- Support resource dissemination, 988 awareness, lethal-means safety messaging, and postvention planning.
- Maintain organized records of outreach activities, training participation, partner engagement, and program outcomes.
- Conduct community outreach, prevention education, and presentations.
- Collaborate with NC-YVPC staff and community partners to identify opportunities to expand prevention programming and reach underserved communities.
Performance Expectations
Successful performance in this position will include:
- 200 participants trained annually through coordinated training and education activities.
- Outreach events planned and implemented successfully.
- SEE-IT youth engagement targets met.
- Partner engagement documented and maintained.
- Consistent, professional communication and follow-through with community partners and program participants.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: community outreach, youth programming, training coordination, prevention education, expressive arts, theater-based engagement, behavioral health, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, organizational, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with youth, families, professionals, community organizations, and diverse community partners.
- Willingness to travel within southeastern North Carolina (Robeson and surrounding counties) as needed for outreach, training, and community events.
