Full Job Description

Description: Named the #1 Law Firm by In Business Magazine nine years in a row, Axley is an equal opportunity employer that is seeking a legal assistant with a minimum of three years of litigation experience. The individual hired for this position will be responsible for the below tasks, among others.

Running conflicts searches
Opening new client files
Preparing engagement agreements
Client billing and invoicing
Draft correspondence and other court documents
Review, edit, and proofread documents for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and formatting
File pleadings with circuit courts, appellate courts, federal district courts, and state agencies
Confer with clients and other involved parties to gather and track case information
Draft discovery responses
Calendar court-ordered deadlines
Work with process servers to arrange for service of Summons and Complaints and other legal documents
Maintain litigation files and calendars, noting deadlines for responsive pleadings, motions and other important deadlines
Work alongside attorneys, paralegals and fellow legal assistants on complex cases and legal processes, including managing class action and multidistrict litigation

Qualifications: Post‐Secondary coursework in paralegal studies or equivalent experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or similar position, preferably an Associate’s Degree or higher. Minimum of three years of litigation experience.
