Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Construction Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial management of construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting practices and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will drive financial clarity, support cost control initiatives, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex construction endeavors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your accounting skills within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment dedicated to excellence in project execution.

Hours M-F 8-5 (Weekends as needed)

Bonuses: In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for a performance-based bonus program. Bonuses are awarded based on company performance and are not guaranteed. Eligible employees may receive bonus payouts semi-annually, with the opportunity to earn up to 10% of annual salary based on company results.

Duties

Manage and oversee all aspects of financial accounting related to construction projects, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and cost analysis.
Prepare detailed financial reports, including project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and variance analyses to inform decision-making.
Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls across all financial processes.
Utilize Sage and Redteam to record transactions accurately and efficiently.
Conduct cost management activities by analyzing project expenses, monitoring budgets, and identifying areas for cost savings.
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to interpret financial reports and provide insights on project performance.
Support internal audits by maintaining thorough documentation of financial transactions and controls aligned with SOX requirements.
Leverage business intelligence tools and Excel data analysis techniques to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Experience

Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a focus on construction or manufacturing industries.
Extensive background in financial accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double entry bookkeeping, cost accounting analysis, and technical accounting concepts.
Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, data collection, account reconciliation, and general ledger management.
Experience with cost management strategies including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis within large-scale projects.
Ability to analyze complex spreadsheets and utilize business intelligence tools for data-driven decision-making.
