Position Title: Mission Market Donation Processor
Reports to: Mission Market Thrift Store Manager

PROGRAM STATEMENT: The Mission Market generates financial support for Muncie Mission Ministries by giving the community a meaningful way to care for people experiencing homelessness through the donation and purchase of gently used items, with 100% of net proceeds funding the Mission's ministry and services.
POSITION SUMMARY: To process donations from donors to retail. This includes, but not limited to, accepting, sorting, and pricing donated items. This includes but is not limited to compliance with company policies and standards, procedures, and the MMM Mission Statement.
Qualifications:
· Must be in agreement with the philosophy, policies, and mission statement of the ministry and be able to view this as a team ministry with a servant’s heart.
· Must be dependable, consistently at work on time, and able to work independently.
· Must interact professionally with guests, volunteers, and the general public and be able to prioritize work activities, use time wisely, exhibit good decision making skills within assigned tasks, and communicate effectively- both written and verbal.
Essential Functions:
· Receiving, sorting, and organizing donated merchandise
· Make each donor interaction an excellent experience by being welcoming and making it as easy as possible for each donor to give in support of MMM.
· Effectively use the donation receiving script to communicate appreciation, the MMM story, and Corner of Your Field to donors.
· Track the production of donation receiving for leadership to be able to evaluate the data to make more informed decisions.
· Recognize quality merchandise and effectively seek guidance on pricing from management.
· Process, evaluate, clean, and price products in preparation for sale in the thrift stores in a timely manner to meet hourly/daily production goals in a fast-paced environment.
· Helping to guide the work of community and resident volunteers when necessary.
· Work closely with the Director of Retail Operations and Store Manager and report any problems to them.
· Be willing to float to any retail department as requested by Store Manager/Director of Retail Operations.
· Willing to be flexible with schedule to fill in for absence of other store personnel
· Use time keeping system properly.
· Attend personnel meetings and training sessions as required.
· All other duties as assigned by management.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
· High School diploma or equivalent is required.
· Must have a friendly, smiling demeanor.
· Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with an excellent command of the English language and the ability to write in legible clear handwriting and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
· Must be detail-oriented and have solid organizational skills.
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Must be a problem solver and be able to work with a minimum of supervision and take initiative.
· Excellent time management skills and possess a demonstrable level of skill and proficiency in planning to meet established goals.
· Computer skills to include general typing skills and the ability to access web sites to help evaluate the value of donated items.
· Ability to read and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
· Stand – up to 100% of a standard work day.
· Walk – up to 75% of a standard work day.
· Sit – less than 10% of a standard work day.
· Use hands to perform required duties – up to 100% of a standard work day.
· Lifting and Bending – up to 75% of a standard work day.
· Talk or hear – As needed throughout a standard work day.
Moderate physical activity. Depending on location, this position may require frequent strenuous activity. Able to lift at least 50 pounds. Use hands to lift, sort, clean, and organize throughout a standard work day. Depending on location, this position may work in a warehouse setting with some outdoor exposure throughout the workday. Required to wear a name badge.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
· Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
· Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
· Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
· Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
· Depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
· Ability to adjust focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Background Investigation and Drug Testing:
- After a “conditional offer of employment” is made, the individual must pass a criminal background investigation.
- Muncie Mission Ministries may request the successful applicant to submit to and pass a drug and /or alcohol test. This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment. All employees must sign and adhere to MMM Substance policy and remain free from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
Hours:
Monday through Saturday, hours arranged by the Director of Retail Operations and approved by the President/CEO.
The Mission Market Donation Processor is an hourly – at will position.
