About the Role:

The Authorizations Specialist Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in managing and overseeing the authorizations team to ensure timely and accurate processing of service requests within healthcare or insurance settings. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies while optimizing workflow efficiency and customer satisfaction. The supervisor will lead, mentor, and develop a team of authorization specialists, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement and professional growth. They will serve as a key liaison between internal departments, external providers, and clients to resolve complex authorization issues and facilitate seamless communication. Ultimately, this role ensures that all authorization processes support organizational goals and deliver exceptional service quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years experience in healthcare authorizations or a similar role.
At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience in a healthcare or insurance environment.
Strong knowledge of healthcare authorization processes, insurance policies, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with authorization management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare claims systems.
Certification in healthcare management or related professional credentials.
Demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives or project management.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
Experience in a managed care or insurance company setting.

Responsibilities:

Supervise daily operations of the authorizations team, ensuring adherence to established protocols and performance standards.
Review and approve complex authorization requests, providing guidance and support to team members as needed.
Monitor team productivity and quality metrics, implementing corrective actions to address performance gaps.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments such as claims, customer service, and provider relations to resolve authorization-related issues.
Conduct training sessions and performance evaluations to develop team skills and maintain high levels of employee engagement.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations related to healthcare authorizations.
Analyze workflow processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Handle escalated inquiries from providers, members, and internal stakeholders with professionalism and timely resolution.
