Registered Dental Assistant — RDA

Overview
A modern, privately owned dental practice in the Lucas–Allen area is seeking an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused Registered Dental Assistant to join its growing clinical team.
The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, attentive to detail, and committed to providing an exceptional patient experience. We are looking for an assistant who takes pride in preparation, patient care, and supporting an efficient and collaborative clinical team.
Our practice provides comprehensive general dentistry as well as cosmetic, endodontic, surgical, implant, restorative, preventive, and emergency dental care. This position offers the opportunity to strengthen your clinical skills while working in a quality-focused private-practice environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review the daily schedule and prepare treatment rooms in advance for each patient and procedure
- Ensure instruments, materials, medications, equipment, consent forms, and necessary supplies are ready before seating the patient
- Greet and seat patients promptly while helping them feel comfortable and informed
- Review and update medical histories, medications, allergies, and relevant health information
- Obtain blood pressure and other required vital signs
- Take diagnostic-quality digital radiographs and intraoral photographs
- Perform digital impressions and intraoral scans as assigned
- Provide efficient four-handed chairside assistance
- Anticipate the doctor’s needs throughout treatment
- Monitor patient comfort and promptly communicate clinical concerns
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and treatment notes as assigned
- Explain procedures and postoperative instructions within the scope of the RDA role
- Provide clear and professional clinical handoffs
Procedures may include:
- Composite restorations
- Crowns and bridges
- Root canal therapy
- Simple and surgical extractions
- Implant placement and restoration
- Bone grafting and other surgical procedures
- Dentures and immediate dentures
- Cosmetic and complex restorative treatment
- Emergency dental treatment
- Nitrous oxide sedation
- Preventive and periodontal procedures
Additional responsibilities include:
- Cleaning, sterilizing, packaging, and properly storing instruments
- Completing treatment-room turnover thoroughly and efficiently
- Following OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and practice infection-control standards
- Maintaining required sterilization, waterline, and equipment-monitoring records
- Monitoring clinical inventory and reporting low supplies before they become critical
- Tracking laboratory cases and confirming their arrival before scheduled appointments
- Assisting with clinical opening and closing duties
- Reporting damaged instruments, malfunctioning equipment, or safety concerns promptly
- Helping maintain smooth and timely patient flow throughout the day
Required Qualifications
- Active Texas Registered Dental Assistant registration in good standing
- Current hands-on BLS/CPR certification
- At least two years of chairside dental assisting experience, preferably in general dentistry
- Experience taking diagnostic-quality digital radiographs
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, materials, and procedures
- Knowledge of sterilization, aseptic technique, and infection-control requirements
- Ability to provide efficient four-handed dentistry
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Ability to follow established practice systems and clinical protocols
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative dental team
Preferred Qualifications
- Nitrous oxide monitoring certification
- Coronal polishing certification
- Experience assisting with implants, bone grafting, surgical extractions, or oral surgery
- Experience assisting with root canal therapy
- Experience with cosmetic or complex restorative treatment
- Experience using intraoral scanners and digital dental technology
- Familiarity with electronic dental records and dental practice-management software
- Experience managing clinical inventory or tracking laboratory cases
- Bilingual communication skills
Experience with every preferred procedure is not required. However, applicants should be motivated, clinically curious, willing to learn, and committed to providing excellent patient care.

Compensation
Based on experience and qualifications
Final compensation will be based on relevant experience, clinical proficiency, certifications, digital-technology experience, and demonstrated competency.
