Bookkeeper / Accounting Administrator

Exteriors Plus | Akron, Ohio

Exteriors Plus is a growing roofing, siding, window, and exterior remodeling company serving homeowners throughout Northeast Ohio. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced, organized, and dependable Bookkeeper / Accounting Administrator to take ownership of our day-to-day bookkeeping and help keep our financial operations accurate, organized, and accountable.

This is more than a basic data-entry position. We need someone who understands bookkeeping, knows how to identify discrepancies, keeps accounts current, and is comfortable working directly with management, employees, vendors, subcontractors, and our administrative team.

What You'll Do

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks
Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
Enter, categorize, and properly document company expenses
Reconcile bank accounts and credit card accounts
Process and track vendor and subcontractor payments
Maintain accurate customer account balances
Track deposits, payments, outstanding balances, and receivables
Assist with payroll reporting and coordination
Maintain accurate job-costing information
Review job financials and identify discrepancies or missing information
Assist with customer billing questions and account discrepancies
Work with sales and production when financial information on a job needs clarification
Maintain accurate vendor and subcontractor records
Track receipts and ensure expenses are properly documented
Prepare financial information and reports for company ownership
Assist our CPA and accounting professionals with year-end reporting and tax preparation
Help improve accounting procedures, systems, and internal financial controls
Maintain organized digital accounting records
Work in QuickBooks and coordinate financial information with AccuLynx
Help management understand where money is being spent and identify inconsistencies before they become larger problems

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

Has previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
Has strong QuickBooks experience
Understands accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping
Is highly organized and extremely detail-oriented
Is comfortable handling a high volume of transactions
Can work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
Communicates professionally with employees, vendors, subcontractors, and management
Is comfortable asking questions and speaking up when something doesn't look right
Can meet deadlines without constant supervision
Understands the importance of confidentiality when handling company financial information
Takes pride in accuracy, organization, and clean financial records

Construction, roofing, remodeling, or job-cost accounting experience is highly preferred, but not required.

You should be the type of person who wants accounts reconciled, receipts accounted for, bills properly entered, customer balances accurate, and financial information organized and up to date.

This role is an opportunity to become a trusted financial resource for company ownership. We are looking for someone who will take initiative, identify problems, and help improve our financial systems—not someone who simply enters numbers and moves on.
